Cleaning the cutting blades

(after every use)
Before cleaning:
Switch the machine off. Remove battery
pack (4) from machine.
Wear protective gloves.
Remove contamination, remains of blades etc.
(e.g. with a brush or cloth)
After cleaning: Treat cutting blades with Metabo
machine care oil 6.30474 or Pump Spray 6.30475
(biologically degradable).
9 Use of battery charger
The maximum number of charge cycles can only
reached if an exhaustive discharge of the battery
pack is avoided. If performance diminishes,
recharge the battery pack.
9.1

Charging battery pack

Insert battery pack (4) up to stop in charging
compartment (13).
The operating display (15) flashes and the battery
is charged.
When the battery pack is fully charged, the oper-
ating display (15) lights up continuously.
The battery pack can remain in the battery charger
and is therefore always ready for use.

10 Fault when charging
10.1 Warning display (14) lights up continu-
ously
• Battery pack is not charged. Temperature too
high/too low. When the temperature of the
battery pack is between 0 °C and 50 °C, the
charging process begins automatically.
10.2 Warning display (14) flashes
• Battery pack is defective. Remove the battery
pack immediately from the charger.
• Short circuit between the charging contacts.
Check the contacts for foreign bodies.

11 Tips and Tricks

Ensure that there are no birds brooding in your
hedge. If necessary, postpone your hedgecutting.
The chopped-up cuttings, combined with other
garden waste products, provide nutrient-rich
compost.
Unchopped cuttings placed in a natural garden
provide a useful place of retreat for small animals
such as hedgehogs.
Observe any local resting periods; your neighbour
will thank you for it.
12 Maintenance
Check that the screw and diaphragm spring
(9) are seated securely
At regular intervals, check that the screw and
diaphragm spring (9) are seated securely using
an Allen key (8). The screw must always be tight-
ened properly. Fit a screw locking device to the
thread of the screw. The locking device will wear if
the screw is slackened and tightened frequently.
Replace the screw if necessary (order no.
341704440).
Blunt or damaged cutting blades (10)
Replace cutting blades (10) (or turn then over) if
they are blunt or damaged.
It is advisable to have blunt cutting blades (10)
sharpened in a specialist workshop. Check cutting
blades regularly for damage and have them
repaired in a specialist workshop immediately if
necessary.
