Read out the interference memory of the vehicle.
Remove the negative earth clip from the battery.
Remove the mat from the trunk.
Open the bottom flap. Take off the upholstery of the back threshold plate.
Take out the spare wheel. Disassemble the spare wheel holder. Note: Do not damage the connected wiringtube!
Disassemble the plastic cover plate with the BMW logo.
Dismount the plastic support plate.
Remove the cover plate from the rear bumper.

Remove the blind plug (40 mm) from the rear plate.
Lead the cable harness through the freed hole. Install the rubber tulle properly into the hole.

Install the socket onto the socket mounting plate on the towing hook.

Install the earth of the cable harness at the vehicle mass onto the backside of the rear plate.
Pull the cable harness, along the original cable harness, up to the prepared 12-pole connector (right back on the rear plate).
Remove the dummy of the 12-pole connector and connect the 12-pole female socket of the towing hook cable harness onto this.
Click the towing hook module onto the plastic support plate and subsequently fit the 15-pole connector onto the towing hook module.
Note: Ensure that the 15-pole connector is secured to the towing hook module!
4.
Fit the negative clamp onto the battery.
Check the electrical functions with the car trailer attached.
Assemble all dismounted parts.
NB In case there is no tension on the towing hook module, you should fit the enclosed 50A fuse in the free position of the main fuse box.
The main fuse box is placed in the casing for the spare wheel. See the work shop manual for instructions.
