11. Attach the end of the LVD SCSI cable to the integrated SCSI controller.
NOTE: Only one end of the cable can connect to the controller; the other end of
the cable has a terminator.
12. Attach the device connector that is closest to the terminator on the LVD SCSI
cable to the CD-ROM drive.
Make sure that you use the narrow-to-wide adapter already on the CD-ROM
drive.
13. If you have a tape drive, attach it to the next connector on the LVD SCSI cable.
14. Use the remaining device connectors on the LVD SCSI cable to attach the rest of
the SCSI devices on the bus; make sure that the LVD SCSI cable follows the
same path as the Ultra/Wide SCSI cable that you removed.
NOTE: You can attach LVD and Ultra/Wide SCSI hard-disk drives in any order on
the LVD cable as long as all Ultra/Wide SCSI devices have termination disabled
and all devices have a unique SCSI ID between 0 and 4.
15. Replace the computer cover.
16. Reconnect the system and external peripherals to their electrical outlets.
Replacing the SCSI Cable in a System With
a RAID Controller or an Adaptec 2940UW
SCSI Controller
WARNING: Refer to the safety information in your system documentation
before you begin working inside the chassis.
To replace the SCSI cable in a system with a RAID controller or an Adaptec 2940UW
SCSI controller, perform the following steps:
1. Disconnect the computer system and all external peripherals from their electrical
outlets, and remove the cover.
See your system documentation for more details.
2. Note the path of the Ultra/Wide SCSI cable attached to the RAID controller or the
Adaptec 2940UW SCSI controller inside the chassis.
3. Disconnect the power cables to all SCSI devices attached to the Ultra/Wide SCSI
cable.
4. Disconnect the Ultra/Wide SCSI cable from the RAID controller or the Adaptec
2940UW SCSI controller and from all other attached devices, and then remove
the Ultra/Wide SCSI cable from the system.
