2.5 User test (device test)
The test according to EN 60079-17 can be carried out together with the
user test. The device must be taken out of operation if the test results
are negative.
CAUTION
!
This test must be carried out by a specialist familiar with the stan-
dards stated!
Initialization
• The three phase currents running through the 3RB2 must be as sym-
metrical as possible.
• The phase currents must be ≥ 80 % of the set current I
• The currents must flow at least for the time t
• The phase currents must be at least the same size as the value set
for the lower setting mark of the current setting.

Test implementation
During the test all the protection functions are still active. The test is
initiated by pressing the TEST button (see device test in operating
instructions 3ZX1012-0RB20-1AA1 and 3ZX1012-0RB20-1BA1).
After the TEST button has been pressed, the device must trip within
the following time periods:

Test evaluation
The user test is considered to be carried out successfully if
• the device trips within the maximum permissible time limit
• contact 95-96 opened (not welded shut)
NOTICE
Correct functioning of the device can only be guaranteed when
these two criteria are met.
2.6 Additional safety instructions
CAUTION
3RB20 and 3RB21 are not designed for load-side operation for
frequency converters.
