1. The heater is equipped with two pilot lights, one
green and one red. (See Figure 2)
a. The green light will glow continuously when
heater is plugged into an active electrical outlet.
b. The red light will glow until the heater reaches
the thermostat-set temperature and will switch on
and off as the thermostat cycles.
2. When heating a material for the first time, monitor
temperature with a thermometer. Record the
thermostat setting position for future reference.
NOTE: The thermostat setting you have
determined for one material and set of
conditions may not be accurate for another
material. Repeat the set-up procedure with
any new material to ensure best results. Select
heat level (LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH) based on heat
sensitivity of material. When heating materials
that can char by excessive heat, heater must
be set to LOW (25% wattage). MEDIUM will
generate 50% of the capacity, and HIGH (full
capacity) should be used only on materials with
the ability to absorb heat very rapidly, such as
non-flammable oils, water oil mix and water.

control knob counter-clockwise until the thermostat
turns off (indicated by the red pilot light). The control
will then maintain the desired temperature plus or
minus 20° F.
a. The thermostat control is numbered 1 to 7, not in
degrees. The thermostat senses the temperature
of the drum, not that of the heater.
b. The thermostat is more accurate when the
temperature of the material exceeds the
surrounding air temperature.
c. All material being heated should be mixed
during the process to ensure an accurate
temperature reading. The material near the
outside of the drum and adjacent to the heater
will heat faster than material near the center of
the drum.
NOTE: Do not leave heater unattended during
operation.
