CAUTION: Risk of product damage. Avoid excessive
heat while soldering to prevent damage to the valve.
Install 1/2" I.P.S. piping or copper tubing, and the adapters for the
bath and shower outlets.
Install temporary nipples in the bath and shower ells. Be sure the
temporary nipple used for slip-fit spout installations will extend at
least 6" beyond the finished wall.
Solder all copper tubing connections. Apply thread sealant to all
I.P.S. piping threads, and securely tighten the threaded
connections.
Secure the bath and shower pipes to the support framing.
Install caps on temporary bath and shower nipples. Cycle the valve
through its hot and cold water range. Inspect for leaks. Turn the
valve off.
INSTALL ESCUTCHEON AND HANDLE
Complete the finished wall. Remove and discard the plaster guard.
Center the escutcheon assembly over the valve stem, and slide it
onto the valve stem with the plug button arrow facing downward.
Be sure the valve stem seats properly in the stem adapter located
in the center of the handle. Mount the escutcheon to the valve with
two screws.
NOTE: Do not overtighten these screws.
INSTALL I.P.S. SPOUT
Remove the temporary nipple from the bath pipe. Install a 1/2"
nipple to the bath pipe so it extends 3-7/8" (9.8cm) beyond the
finished wall. Apply thread sealant to the nipple threads, and install
the spout. Tighten with a strap wrench.
INSTALL SLIP-FIT SPOUT
Cut the tubing so it extends between 1-1/2" (3.8cm) and 2-7/8"
(7.3cm) beyond the finished wall. Install the spout to the 1/2" copper
tube, and carefully tighten the set screw in the bottom of the spout.
NOTE: Do not overtighten the set screw.
INSTALL SHOWERHEAD
Place a ring of plumbers putty around the escutcheon. Slide the
escutcheon onto the shower arm. Apply thread sealant to the
shower arm, and install the shower arm into the shower ell. Tighten
with a strap wrench.
Flush both water supplies through the shower arm for one minute.
Apply thread sealant to the exposed end of the shower arm, and
install the showerhead to the shower arm. Tighten with a strap
wrench.
