Operating instructions for pneumati-

cally operated cylinders
(GB)
Operating instructions for pneumatically operated cylinders of the
XL
These operating instructions address only qualified experts in control and automation technology with ex-
perience in the assembly, installation and commissioning, maintenance and conversion of pneumatic com-
ponents as well as being familiar with the concept of the types of ignition protection in areas subject to the
risk of explosions.
In the interests of your own safety, please pay attention to the fact that the pneumatic cylinders are only des-
tined for use in compliance with their purpose in areas subject to the risk of explosions of Zone 1 and 2 for
gases*), fumes*) and vapour*) or in Zones 21 and 22 for dust
In accordance with their purpose,
In their original state,
without making your own changes and in technically perfect condition.
The limit values given by AIRTEC for pressures, temperatures etc. must be observed. The national stan-
dards, safety regulations and accident prevention regulations must be heeded.
Attention
Read the operating instructions prior to commissioning. In case of improper intervention or if the notes in
these operating instructions are ignored, all liability and warranty claims shall lapse.
Caution!
Do not remove or cover this type plate / imprint.
In order to perform changes do not dismantle cylinders. There is a danger of damage and injury and loss
of warranty.
1)
The marking of the device category and the identification letter (G: gases, fumes or vapour; D: dusts) of
the ex atmosphere is visible on the cylinder.

Safety notes for assembly and comissioning
AIRTEC cylinders are to be installed only in the areas for which they are intended. Installation and assem-
bly may only be carried out by expert personnel only in a decompressed state in an atmosphere not
threatened by explosion. Installation must take place without distortion and in compliance with the permit-
1
ted loads
). Ensure that the exhaust air ducts are adequately dimensioned. The exhaust air from the units
may not result in a new dust atmosphere explosion hazard in the dust EX area.
If differences of potential occur as a consequence of installing the cylinder, a conductive connection must
be created in order to achieve an equalisation of potential.
2)
For further technical data see the AIRTEC catalogue
Maintenance, inspection and cleaning
Prior to performing installation and maintenance work, depressurise the system. Ensure that there is
no risk of explosions in the surrounding atmosphere during installation, inspection and cleaning work.
The intervals for exchanging the cylinders is 5,000 km.
The maximum cleaning intervals must be determined by initial daily controls by the operator.
