Adjusting Compression Stiffness (Preload):
The preload of your fork is externally adjustable by turning
the adjuster knobs located on the top of the crown (See
Figure 4 & 5). There are approximately 4 turns of
adjustment. Both sides should be adjusted equally from the
full soft position (fully counterclockwise). Dial in the ride
quality you like best.
Maintenance: RockShox Quadra forks require routine
maintenance. After each ride, clean and dry the outside of
the fork. A general service (cleaning and greasing
elastomers and bushings) should be made by a qualified
technician at approximately 200 hours of riding, or more
frequently if you ride in dusty or muddy conditions. Also,
after a fall or crash, you'll need a general inspection of your
brakes, the cable hanger, and the overall fork to see if there
is any sign of damage.
Performance Tips: Here are some tips for keeping your
Quadra feeling smooth. Q5: If the fork becomes very stiff or
"sticky" feeling, unscrew the top cap with a 22mm wrench
and apply a light-duty grease to all surfaces of the elastomer
(do not use a Lithium grease). All: To maintain plushness,
occasionally pull up the bottom of the accordion style fork
boots and apply a few drops of light-duty lube, such as light
oil or Teflon chain lube (See Figure 6). Non-lubricating rust
preventative sprays, such as WD-40, are not recommended.
