Installation
WARNING - EXPLOSION HAZARD: Do not install the unit in a hazardous location
if the operating temperature exceeds the atmosphere's ignition temperature.
Unpacking the Device:
verify parts. Unit comes with: (1) 225XL or 225XL-N assembled unit with flying
leads. If a part is missing or damaged do not attempt to install and contact Federal
Signal Customer Support.
Changing the Flash Pattern from Flashing (default) to Steady
1. Find and locate J3 mini jumper on the board
2. Switch jumper from flash to steady
Electrical Connections
do not connect wires when circuits are energized. Wiring
must comply to code in the country of use.
•
24VAC/DC Models: Connect the red (+) lead to the
positive or the phase (hot) side of the power source
and the black (-) lead to the negative or common side
of the power source.
•
120-240VAC 50/60Hz Models: Connect the black
lead to the phase (hot) side of the power source and
the white lead to the common (neutral) side of the
power source. If required by local building codes,
the green/yellow lead in the housing is provided for
connection to earth ground.
Mounting the Device: 225XL and 225XL-N
Certified) must be mounted in a dome up position to resist water and debris accumulation and maintain the NSF
Certification.
To comply with NEC Section 300-14, which requires a minimum of 6" of free conductor at a junction, the pipe used to join
the unit to a splice box should be no longer than 10".
Wall mounting bracket (LHWB) is sold separately and is intended for use with model 225XL only. LHWB is not NSF
Certified and incompatible for use with model 225XL-N.

Pipe Mount: Feed wires through pipe and turn clockwise to tighten. To prevent the connection from loosening, tighten
the fixture to a minimum of 5ft.-lbs. (6.8Nm) after threading onto the pipe.
Testing and Operating: After installation, test the system to verify each signal operates and establish a program
for periodic testing of the device. Provide copy of these instructions to all operating personnel.
Maintenance and Service
Ordering Replacement Parts and Accessories: Consult product datasheet online for an updated list of replacement
parts. If your product requires a part that is not available for purchase, your unit must be repaired or replaced.
