I. PRIOR TO FIRST USE
Carefully take the appliance and its detachable parts out of the package. Remove all wrap-
ping material and stickers except for serial number identification sticker.
No serial number identification sticker on the appliance automatically disables the user's
right to aftersales service.
Wipe the base of the appliance with a damp cloth, then let dry. You may notice foreign smell
when first using the appliance, this does not mean its malfunction.
After the appliance transportation or storage at low temperature keep it at room temperature for
at least two hours before plugging in.
II. OPERATING THE IRON
To fill water tank
1. Ensure that the iron is unplugged from the electrical outlet. Turn the temperature
control dial into "Min" position and the steam output control dial into
2. Open the water tank cap and tilt the iron. Using the measuring cup fill the tank below
the "Max" fill line on the housing. Close the water tank.
3. Position the iron vertically.
CAUTION! Do not fill directly from the faucet to prevent water from entering the appliance or
spilling on the power cord.
Use tap water to fill the water tank. Do not fill the tank with distilled (demineralized), softened,
or boiled water to prevent damage and prolong service life of the appliance.
If you have exceptionally hard water in your area use half distilled water and half tap water.
To select the temperature
The REDMOND RI-C222-E Steam Iron is equipped with a temperature control dial. The dial
is provided with standard symbols of temperature modes and the names of fabrics.
Turn the temperature control dial to align the name of fabric with the cursor on the housing (refer to "Fabric
Ironing Chart"). The heating indicator on the housing will light up to indicate heating. Once the soleplate
reaches the required temperature the heating indicator will go out, indicating that the iron is ready to use.
Steam ironing
The most efficient steam ironing can be achieved in • • or • • • temperature modes.
Turn the steam output control dial into the required position. If the dial is in

Plug in the iron. Heating indicator on the housing will light up to indicate the heating. Once
the soleplate reaches the required temperature the heating indicator will go out, indicating

NOTE! Constant steam is only generated when the iron is in horizontal position and set to high
temperature. If the steam feature is enabled (the steam output control dial is not in
and the temperature setting is too low, water may drip from the soleplate.
Steam Shot
The Steam Shot feature is used to eliminate stubborn wrinkles. The feature can be used
during steam ironing when the heating indicator on the housing is out. If the heating indi-
cator is lit, wait for the soleplate to reach the selected temperature before using the Steam
Shot feature. The Steam output control dial must not be in

Vertical steam
The REDMOND RI-C222-E Steam Iron can be used in an upright position to remove wrinkles from
hanging drapes, curtains, tulle, as well as dress clothes without taking them off the hangers.
1. Turn the steam output control dial into

2. Turn the temperature control dial into "Max" position.
3. Wait until the soleplate reaches the required temperature (the heating indicator goes out).
4. Hold the iron vertically with the soleplate facing the garment. To avoid burning deli-
cate fabrics hold the iron a few centimeters away from the garment.
5. Move the iron from top to bottom briefly pressing the Steam Shot button. Return to
horizontal position every fifth time you press the button.
6. If heating indicator lights up, stop steaming and wait for the soleplate to reach the
required temperature. Resume the steaming after the heating indicator goes out.
CAUTION! The iron generates high temperature steam! Do not touch steam to prevent burning.
Never iron clothes on the body!
Dry ironing
You can use the iron for dry ironing even if the water tank is full. However, if using the
feature for a long period of time do not fill the tank with too much water.
