Landport Batteries - Ramgatseweg 63 - 4941 VN Raamsdonksveer
The Netherlands - Phone: 0031 - 162 58 1400 - www.landportbv.com
- Follow the instructions on the battery, in the instructions
for use and in the vehicle manual. Add these instructions
for use to the vehicle manual.
- Use eye protection when working on the battery.
- Keep children away from acid filled batteries.
- Keep children away when working on the battery.
Fire, flames and smoking are forbidden:
- Avoid creating sparks when handling cables and electrical
devices and when there are electrostatic discharges.
- Avoid short circuits (e.g. by not placing any tools on
the battery).
Explosion hazard:
- A highly explosive gas is created when batteries are
charged.
- Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid flames.
Risk of burns:
- Battery acid is highly corrosive and can cause severe
burns and eye damage.
- Always wear protective gloves/clothing and eye
protection.
- Battery acid can be corrosive to metals.
A. Preparing the battery
Place the battery on a flat surface.
Remove the sealing strip.
B. Preparing the battery acid
holder
Take the battery acid holder from
the plastic bag. Remove the strip
from the acid pack and lay it aside
for later use.
Important:
do not remove the seals from
the
openings
or
puncture
them.
C. Filling with battery acid
Turn the battery acid holder over
and place it on the battery so that
the six sealed openings are lined up
with the battery's six filler openings.
Now press the holder downwards so
it breaks the seals. The battery acid
will now start to run into the battery.
Important: Make sure that the
battery acid holder is not tilted, as this may prevent the
battery acid from flowing out.
Approximately 30 minutes after filling the battery, the battery voltage should be measured with a voltmeter. If this is above 12.7 volt,
the battery is ready for immediate use. If the battery voltage is lower, it should be recharged (see Point 3).
First aid:
- If acid fumes are inhaled: provide for fresh air. In case
of irregular breathing or respiratory arrest, seek medical
advice immediately and administer first aid. In case of
respiratory irritation: consult a physician.
- If acid splashes in the eye: remove contact lenses if
possible. Immediately rinse with clean water for at least 15
minutes. Then consult a physician.
- If acid splashes on the skin or in the hair: immediately
remove any contaminated clothing. Rinse skin or hair with
water or in the shower.
- If acid splashes on clothing: absorb spillage to prevent
material damage. Immediately neutralise with soda or
soapy water and rinse thoroughly with water.
- If acid is swallowed: immediately rinse mouth and drink
plenty of water. Do NOT induce vomiting. If you feel
unwell, call a POISON CENTRE or a physician.
Warning note:
- Do not expose the battery to direct daylight, as this may
cause damage to the battery housing.
- A discharged battery may freeze. Therefore, do not
expose it to temperatures below zero.
Handing in an old battery:
- Return an old battery to an authorised body.
- During transport, observe the instructions in Point 2.2.
- Never dispose of old batteries as domestic waste
D. Making sure the battery acid is flowing
Air bubbles must rise from all six filler openings until the
holder is empty.
Please note: if no air bubbles rise from the filler openings,
gently tap on the holder. When filling, never remove the
acid holder from the battery.
E. Removing the battery acid holder
Make sure that all the battery acid has drained from the
holder. If there is still some battery acid left in the holder,
then gently tap on the holder as described above. Then
gently pull the holder out of the battery. Remove any
remaining acid droplets with a damp, anti-static cloth.
F. Closing the battery
Push the cap strip down firmly and
evenly with both hands. The strip
should be at the same height as the
top of the battery.
The filling process is now complete. The cap strip may
not be removed. There is no need to add water or battery
acid to the battery. Wait 30 minutes for the acid to be
absorbed before installing the battery into the vehicle.

Instructions for use, warnings and safety instructions for sealed fixed electrolyte batteries (AGM technology) for motorcycles
1. Initial commissioning
General
- This battery has been dry loaded and is activated by the supplied acid pack.
- Only fill the battery with the supplied acid if it has been disassembled.
- Unlike conventional batteries for motorcycles, batteries with AGM technology do not need to be filled with water at all. These sealed batteries for motorcycles may not be re-opened after
commissioning. Opening it would cause the battery to malfunction.
Always follow the warnings and safety instructions.
2. General instructions
- The temperature of the battery and the acid must preferably be above 10 °C.
- Only fit this battery in the vehicle in the location designated by the manufacturer. Always ensure that the battery is adequately ventilated. Follow the vehicle manufacturer's instructions.
- Attach these instructions for use to the vehicle manual.
2.1 Fitting and removing a battery
If you are unsure about fitting or removing a battery, please contact a qualified workshop.
Assembling:
- Before starting work, switch off the engine and
all electrically powered devices.
- Remove all objects from the location where the battery is to be placed.
- Avoid short circuits, for example by tools.
- First, clamp the positive terminal and then the negative terminal. Make sure the terminal connections are securely fastened.
- Transfer other parts, such as the terminal cover, corner sections, hose connections and the terminal connection holder (if any) over from the old battery.
Dismantling:
- Remove all objects from the location where the battery is to be removed.
- Always disconnect the negative terminal first and then the positive terminal
2.2 Storage and transport
- Store a battery in a cool and dry place.
- Protect the battery from direct sunlight.
- Protect the positive terminal from possible
short circuits (tape it or put a terminal cap on it).
- Always store a filled battery in an upright position and secure against tipping over so that no acid can leak out.
- Always transport a filled battery in an upright position and secure against tipping over so that no acid can leak out.
- Regularly check the charge level. Recharge if necessary (see Point 3).
2.3 Maintenance
- Keep the battery clean and dry.
- Only clean the terminals and the surface of the battery with a damp, anti-static cloth. Otherwise, there is a risk of explosion.
- Tighten the clamps securely.
- A sealed battery requires no maintenance by refilling with water. Therefore, do not open the battery again.
- Recharge the battery if the starting power is insufficient (see Point 3).
- If the battery will not be used for an extended period of time (e.g. in winter), make sure that it is (trickle) charged. Carefully remove the battery before charging.
3. Charging the battery
Important:
If you are unsure about charging a battery, have it recharged by a qualified workshop.
- Remove the battery from the vehicle (see Point 2.1).
- Only use a suitable charger with a controlled charging characteristic (IU or WU diagram). See Table 1.
Observe the charger manufacturer's instructions.
Important!
- The charger should have a rated current of 10% (maximum 30%) of the rated capacity of the battery in ampere hours.
- Do not turn the charger on until the battery has been connected. After the battery has been fully charged, first, turn off the charger. Only then should you remove the charger from the battery.
- When charging in enclosed areas, make sure there is good ventilation.
- When the charging is complete, the battery should rest for about two hours.

* The voltage at rest only reaches a constant value after a few hours. Therefore, it is better not to measure it immediately after
charging or discharging. In this case, a waiting time of approximately two hours is necessary.
