Only remove the rechargeable batteries if they are completely empty.
NiCd/NiMH rechargeable batteries may explode if exposed to high
temperatures or fire.
Remove the batteries in the following way:

Let the appliance run until it stops, undo the screws and open the
vacuum cleaner (Fig. 16).
Cut the connecting wires one by one and remove the
batteries (Fig. 17).
