Operating Instructions
Your VARIO DRILL WS 90 is a high-capacity compres-
sed-air gun for the removal of welding spots.
For safe operation, the following precautions should be
taken:
Safety rules
The following safety measures should always be taken,
regardless of any additional safety or accident-prevention
rules which might be applicable in each country:
Do not use your VARIO DRILL for purposes other
G
than the removal of spot-welded joints from sheet-
metal structures.
Disconnect compressed-air supply when changing
G
from one bit to another (VARIO MATIC or cutter).
Wear goggles and protective gloves when working
G
with your VARIO DRILL.
Never point your VARIO DRILL at yourself or any
G
other person.
The valued sound pressure level of the VARIO DRILL
G
is typically 70 dB. The sound level while working with it
may be in excess of such value; therefore, it is recom-
mended to wear ear plugs.
Check cutter blades and tips for breaks or wear.
G
If necessary, change cutter tool.
To reduce the risk of breaking to a minimum, do not
G
use cutter tools other than the genuine VARIO DRILL
cutters.
Never hold workpieces in your hand, but have them
G
clamped instead or make sure their own weight holds
them down to give the correct support.
If you wear long hair, you should use an appropriate
G
hair protection.
Make sure your VARIO DRILL is completely dis-
G
connected when cleaning or greasing it.
Protect the machine against falling down. Do not drop
G
the machine.
Your VARIO DRILL is not insulated against contact
G
with electric current !
Do not use your VARIO DRILL in an atmosphere
G
where there is the risk of explosion!
G
The maximum operating pressure is 8 bar!
Putting the V RIO DIRLL into operation
Refer to the above safety rules and read them carefully
before putting the VARIO DRILL into operation.
Use clean, dry air only. The use of a compressed-air
G
valuation unit is recommended.
Air operating pressure: 6 – 8 bar.
G
Hose diameter: superior to 6 mm.
G
Pour a few droplets of lightweight nonresinous oil into
G
the compressed-air mouthpiece
If not yet assembled, screw an appropriate air connec-
G
tion (1/4") onto the air-volume reducing valve
Important: Tighten screw
G
VARIO DRILL into operation for the first time, tighten
again from time to time. Make sure your VARIO DRILL
is disconnected from the compressed-air supply
during such operation.

Use your VARIO DRILL with VARIO MATIC (Fig. 1) to

readily remove external welding spots on edges, sec-
tional shapes, notches.

Use your VARIO DRILL without VARIO MATIC
G
(Fig. 2) to readily remove internal, concealed welding
spots or those where access is difficult.
TTENTION: Press your VARIO DRILL firmly against
G
the welding spot before switching it on. The cutter
tip
and the depth stop
sideslipping. Never use your VARIO DRILL with a
broken cutter tip.
