CCTV Colour Camera
GB
in a Dome Housing
1 Applications
The colour camera TVCCD-314COL is especially de-
signed for applications in video surveillance systems. It
is equipped with a 4 mm fixed focus lens, an automatic
gain control (standard gain or high gain can be se-
lected), and an automatic electronic shutter. The auto-
matic white balance and the backlight compensation
can be deactivated. The mirror function can be activated.
2 Safety Notes
The camera corresponds to the directive 89/336/EEC
for electromagnetic compatibility.
The camera is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against humidity and heat (admissible ambient tem-
perature range 0 – 40 °C).
For cleaning the housing only use a dry, soft cloth, by
no means chemicals or water.
Do not touch the lens with your fingers and use for its
cleaning only special detergents for optical lenses.
If the camera is used for purposes other than original-
ly intended, if it is not correctly connected or operated,
or not repaired in an expert way, no guarantee claims
for the camera and no liability for any resulting per-
sonal damage or material damage will be accepted.
If the camera is to be put out of operation definitively,
take it to a local recycling plant for disposal which is
not harmful to the environment.
3 Mounting and Connection
1) Open the housing by screwing off the supporting ring
of the dome (4).
2) Tightly screw the base (3) to a wall or ceiling via the
two fastening holes (distance 90 mm).
3) Make the electrical connection via the two inline jacks
(see fig. 1):
a) Connect the operating voltage of 12 V
via a low voltage plug 5.5/2.1 mm (outside/in-
side Ø) to the DC inline jack (1). Pay attention to
the polarity: connect the positive pole to the inside
contact of the plug. A regulated power supply unit
with an output voltage of 12 V
MONACOR PS-12CCD or MONACOR PS-128A).
The current consumption is 160 mA.
b) Apply the video signal from the BNC inline jack (2)
via a 75 Ω coaxial cable to the video input jack of
the monitor. Pay attention to the correct 75 Ω ter-
mination on the monitor or on the last monitor in
case of series connection. If the cable length
exceeds 100 m, a video amplifier should be in-
serted between the camera and the long cable to
compensate cable losses.
If several cameras are used, insert a video
quad processor (e. g. MONACOR TVSP-46COL)
or a camera switcher (e. g. MONACOR TVS-410,
MONACOR TVS-810) between the cameras and
the monitor.

4 Setting into Operation
1) After applying the operating voltage and switching on
the monitor, adjust the camera to the area to be moni-
tored. For this purpose release the corresponding
screws of the camera module support and retighten
them after the adjustment.
2) If the area to be monitored is not reproduced as a
clear picture, the mechanical focus setting must be
readjusted. For this purpose release the small screw
on the lens support. Carefully turn the lens until the
picture becomes clear. Then retighten the screw.
3) If required, select the desired functions with the DIP
switches, see chapter 4.1.
4) Finally close the housing. Place the dome on the
housing base so that the camera is capable of
looking through the transparent part. Tightly screw
the dome with the supporting ring.
4.1 Adjusting the functions with the DIP switches
4.1.1 Iris function
The group of switches A (fig. 2) serves for adjusting the
iris function. It is factory-set to the integrated lens and
must not be modified.
Factory setting of group of switches A
4.1.2 Automatic white balance, colour temperature,
AGC
In the group of switches B the white balance or the
colour temperature is set with the switches 1 to 3 and the
automatic gain control (AGC) with the switch 4.
Factory setting of group of switches B
1) The AGC is factory-set to standard gain. In case of
very low illumination it is possible to switch to high
gain with the switch 4. For this purpose turn the
switch to the right. However, in this case the picture
noise will increase.
2) The automatic white balance is factory-set to fast
adaptation in case of changing light conditions. If
(±10 %)
required, it can be switched to slow adaptation if e. g.
headlights of cars passing by frequently change the
white balance. For this purpose set the switch 2 to
the right.

3) If the automatic white balance does not operate in a
satisfactory way, it can also be set to a fixed colour
temperature:
Switch positions different from those presented here
cannot be used.
4.1.3 Mirror function and backlight compensation
The group of switches C serves for setting this function.
1) The switch 1 applies to the video standard switching
(PAL/NTSC) and the switch 2 to the flicker compen-
sation (on/off; it is only activated with an autoiris
lens). These switches must not be modified.
2) The switch 3 applies to the mirror function. To ac-
tivate, slide the switch to the right.
3) The switch 4 applies to the backlight compensation
(BLC). The compensation is activated by the manu-
facturer. For switching off, if required, slide the switch
to the right.
The backlight compensation can also be switched
on and off externally via a switch connected in ad-
dition (fig. 3). For this purpose the switch 4 must be
set to the factory setting (to the left). With closed
external switch the compensation is switched off.
