4. If the over-range symbol (OL) appears when using
manual range selection, switch immediately to the
next higher range (RANGE button). If the high
est range or automatic measurement range se-
lection is selected and the over-range symbol
appears, switch off the voltage on the object to be
measured immediately and disconnect the measu-
ring instrument from the object to be measured.
AC/DC current measurement
Exercise the necessary caution when working on
voltages exceeding 30 V AC eff. or 42 V DC as there
is a danger of electric shock.
Before connecting the measuring instrument to a
circuit, the current in the circuit must be switched
off. Capacitors must be discharged.
In order to measure current, break the circuit to be
checked and connect the measuring instrument in
series with the consumer.
Never connect a voltage source to the measuring
sockets of the multimeter if a current measurement
range is selected. This could result in a short circuit
and, if the voltage source is sufficiently powerful,
fire and burns.
No voltages higher than 1000 V (CAT III) or 600 V (
CAT IV) with respect to earth may be present in the
measuring circuit.
1. Depending on the expected measured current, turn
the rotary switch to the µa, mA or 10 A range and se-
lect DC ('DC' is displayed) or AC ('AC' is displayed)
using the MODE button.
2. Insert the plug of the red measuring cable in the mA
or the 10 A measuring socket, depending on the se-
lected range, and the black measuring cable in the
COM measuring socket.
3. Switch on the voltage on the object to be measured
