Take the lightning protection system into consideration
Take into consideration that the existing lighting and surge protection
system could be affected by the new mounting structure, e.g. the mast, the
pole, the Outdoor Unit or the antennas used.
 Replan and rebuild the lightning protection system if necessary.
 Observe country-specific requirements.
Mounting the surge protection device
Risk of lightning damage
Without surge protection, the Outdoor Unit could be damaged as a
consequence of atmospheric conditions (thunderstorms) and
switching events.
 When mounted, the antenna and Ethernet connection must have
protection against surge voltage.
 Narda recommends mounting a suitable surge protection device for the
respective antenna connector (e.g. DEHNgate – SPDs for Coaxial
Connection: DGA G N item no. 929 044 and DGA G SMA item no. 929
039) to protect the connections from overvoltage.
 For the Ethernet application, Narda recommends mounting a surge
arrester (e.g. DEHNpatch DPA CLE IP66 item no. 929 221).
 Bear in mind that mounting a surge protection device could limit the
usable frequency range. Observe the information issued by the
manufacturer.
Mounting the weather guard
The device has a fanless design, which reduces maintenance work to a
minimum.
 Mount a shade to avoid exposure to direct sunlight and overheating of
the Outdoor Unit.
In the event of icing, the weight of the Outdoor Unit could increase consid-
erably. This would lead to increased wind loading and a greater strain on the
mounting points.
 If possible, take appropriate measures to protect the Outdoor Unit from
icing (e.g. rain protection, wind protection, etc.).
