05
Place the chain and guide bar onto
the chainsaw. Guide the chain around
the drive sprocket (14). Place the guide
bar onto the studs (15 ). Make sure that
the sliding nut peg (13) locates into the
tensioning hole (12) (PIC 3).
06
Place the chain cover assembly (10)
onto the chainsaw.
07
Fit the chain cover knob (9) and
tighten it finger tight.
08
Turn the chain tension adjustment
screw (5) (PIC 4) clockwise until the
chain is tight. Make sure that the chain
is snug around the guide bar. Do not
overtighten.
09
Tighten the chain cover knob (9).
CHECKING AND ADJUSTING THE CHAIN TENSION
Before use and after every 10 minutes of use, you must check the chain tension:
01
Lightly pull on the chain as shown in PIC 5. The tension is correct when the chain
snaps back after being pulled 3 mm away from the guide bar. There should be no
"sag" between the guide bar and chain on the underside.
02
To increase the tension, turn the chain tension adjustment screw clockwise.
FILLING THE OIL RESERVOIR
01
Remove the oil cap and fill the reser-
voir with the recommended chain oil.
You can see the oil level in the oil level
indicator (PIC 6).
02
Refit the oil cap.
42
Note: Do not over-tension the chain as this will lead
PIC 5
to excessive wear and will reduce the life of the
guide bar and the chain.
Note: When the chain is new, check the tension
frequently (after disconnecting from the mains)
during the first 2 hours of use as a new chain
stretches slightly.
03
level indicator; if it is less than a quarter
