13. USE IN ATTACHMENT MODE

To ensure a consistent point of impact and thus expert use of the
Merlin-35 (2020), the following must be observed:
> Open the submenu and set
the unit mode to C (attachment mode).
The image rebuilds itself and the menu displays
move towards the centre of the display.
> Screw the adapter ring onto the thread of the
collimator lens and fix it in place.
> Next, fit the appropriate clamping adapter.
Make sure that the clamping lever is on the side or on top.
> Make sure that all connections are tight.
> Set the scope to a small magnification and, if available, the
parallax adjustment to infinity (∞).
> Fix the arm and aim at a target point at 50 m/100 m without
attachment optics.
The target must also be clearly visible in the thermal image.
> Switch on the attachment, place it straight onto the optics as
far as it will go and close the clamping lever. Check the target
point.
The reticle should now match the previously targeted heat source
in the image.
> If the target point deviates significantly, align it with the reticle
via the Image shift menu.
> If correct, fire a practice shot at 50 m.
> Make a correction if necessary and fire a test shot again at
100 m.
> Next, determine the point of impact and correct it as follows.
> In the submenu, open the Image shift menu (Alignment, image
left).
The settings of the X/Y coordinates are shown on the display
(image right).
> Change the coordinates with the
