Operation
Check that the transmitters and receiver modules(s) are set to matching chan-
nels, and that the selected channel frequencies do not conflict with other FM
equipment where you are. It is important that a separate channel is selected for
each transmitter. Transmitters cannot share the same channel without interfer-
ence.
Simeon 500WU Portable Soundfield FM Receiver
Flick the master switch on the back of the receiver to the 'ON' position [7].
A steady red indicator light means that the receiver is on and ready to use. A
flashing red light means that the receiver is low on batteries, and should be re-
charged. On the front of the unit are the 701DR FM receivers [1], each with its
own volume control [2]. Your Simeon 500WU is delivered with channels already
assigned and the system is ready to use. Each receiver has three LED indicators
below the display screen. The light on the left, labeled "A/B", is the Diversity An-
tenna Indicator, and will light green or red depending on whether the receiver is
using antenna A or B, respectively. The middle indicator, labeled "RX", will light
amber if there is an established connection to a transmitter. The indicator on the
right, labeled "AF", will light green to indicate high signal input levels. Rotate the
volume dials out of the 'OFF' position to begin receiving signal from the transmit-
ter, and adjust the dial to the desired volume. The typical volume setting for a
medium sized classroom is about 1/3 of maximum volume adjustment. To turn
off the receiver, simply flip the master switch on the back of the unit [7] to 'OFF'.
Simeon 7LT FM Transmitter
Move the Power ON/OFF switch on the top of the unit into the 'ON' posi-
tion [11]. This will cause a red LED indicator to turn on [13], and the word "On"
to flash on the screen [15]. This screen displays both the channel selection and
the battery status. The transmitter requires either a microphone input or a line
in source, connected via the Microphone Input Jack [12] or the Auxiliary Input
Jack [18] respectively. Wear the transmitter using its belt clip or in its belt pack.
The Microphone Mute Switch on the top of the transmitter [10] allows for the
easy interruption of the audio signal. To turn the transmitter off, simply move the
Power ON/OFF switch back to the 'OFF' position.
Simeon 701TS Hand-held FM Transmitter/Microphone
To turn the transmitter on, hold the power button on the base of the body [27]
for three (3) seconds, until the display screen reads "On" [25]. This screen dis-
plays both the channel selection and the battery status. The capsule [29] of the
701TS is highly directional – point the microphone directly towards the mouth
for best performance. The Sensitivity/Mute Control on the back of the transmit-
ter [30] allows for fast adjustments between talking and singing voice levels and
easy interruption of the audio signal. To turn the transmitter off, simply hold the
power button [27] for three (3) seconds, until the display screen reads "Off".

Simeon 623 Directional Boom Microphone
The Simeon 623 microphone and its alternatives offer a great hands-free way
to use the 7LT for all your amplifying needs.
Plug the boom microphone into the 3.5mm input jack on the top of the 7LT
[12]. If you are using a Simeon headset microphone, place the frame [23] over
your ears and adjust the boom arm to position the mic capsule [21] to point to
the corner of your mouth. It is not necessary to place the microphone in front of
your lips and doing so may diminish sound quality. The boom microphone frame
must be adjusted to rest comfortably over both ears, with no other contact or
pressure points against the head or face. Ensure that the 7LT is not muted [10]
and is turned ON. The input jack on the side of the 7LT [18] can also be used for
connecting to external audio feeds, including laptops and iPods.
Assigning new channels
Transmitters 7LT and 701TS and receiver module 701DR feature a simple-
to-use menu that allows selection between 96 UHF channels. To assign a new
channel, press the SET button [1, 14, 28] until the displayed channel flashes. Use
the up and down cursors [1, 16, 26] to select the new channel. Press SET again
to confirm the new channel selection. Make sure that the transmitter channel
matches that of the corresponding receiver module.
External Connections
The back panel of the 500WU has several external connectors. These can be
used to connect devices other than the two transmitters to the receiver.
In the centre of the back panel there is an auxiliary RCA input jack with gain
control [4]. This can be used for connecting external audio sources, such as com-
puters and iPods to the receiver with the appropriate cable.
On the right of the back panel there is a 3.5mm auxiliary output jack [5]. This
can be used for direct connections to special equipment such as personal FM
systems. To set these up, connect the personal FM transmitter to the port on the
back of the receiver. Screw-adjust gain and equalizer controls adjust the output
for the FM transmitter independently of the speaker volume. If necessary, the
three-band equalizer allows for frequency response adjustment at 100 Hz, 1,000
Hz and 10,000 Hz.
The 7LT Transmitter is fitted with an auxiliary input jack [18] to allow for con-
nection and transmission of external audio feeds. To set these up, connect them
to the port on the bottom of the transmitter. The 7LT will automatically mute the
microphone when an auxiliary feed is connected.
