IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
for all Tetra Statuary Pumps
WARNING: To guard against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed, including the following:
1. Read and follow all safety instructions.
2. DANGER: Avoid possible electric shock! Take special care, since water is employed in the use of this equipment,
and water conducts electricity.
3. Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is malfunctioning, or if it is dropped or
damaged in any manner.
4. Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before
cleaning. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect; never yank the plug.
5. Do not allow the pump to become iced up.
6. Do not expose the pump to direct sunlight for a long period of time.
7. Make sure the pump is securely installed and stable before operating it.
8. CAUTION: This pump has been evaluated for fresh water only.
9. Do not use in salt water or highly chlorinated water.

13. Read and observe all the important notices on the appliance.
WARNING: This plug is supplied with a grounding conductor and grounding type attachment plug.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, be certain that it is connected to a grounding type receptacle.
Ground-Fault Circuit-Interrupter Protection
To comply with the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), and to provide additional protection from the risk
of electric shock, this unit should only be connected to a receptacle that is protected by a ground-fault
circuit-interupter (GFCI).
Extension Cords
Use only extension cords that are intended for outdoor use. These extension cords are identified by a
marking "Acceptable for use with outdoor appliances; store indoors while not in use." Use only extension cords
having an electrical rating not less than the rating of the product. Do not use damaged extension cords; examine
extension cords carefully before use and replace if damaged. Do not abuse extension cord and do not yank on any
cord to disconnect. Keep cord away from heat and sharp edges. Always disconnect extension cords carefully;
disconnect them from the receptacle before disconnecting the product from the extension cord.
NEVER RUN THE PUMP UNLESS IT IS COMPLETELY SUBMERGED (UNDERWATER).
WARNING: This plug is fitted with a thermal cut-off device that temporarily switches off the pump
in the event of overheating. The pump may start automatically after the pump cools down.

Installation
Tetra Statuary Pumps
The Tetra statuary pumps are suitable for use in powering self-contained fountains statuary, and small
container ponds.
Installing Your Tetra Statuary Pump
1. Submerse pump in pond, aquarium, or fountain reservoir.
2. Choose proper water outlet adapter that comes with the pump.
3. For maximum flow attach the largest tubing fitting (included with the pump)

4. Attach flexible tubing to pump outlet and other end to fountain feature.
5. Please review safety instructions before plugging the pump in.
NOTE: If the flow does not occur within seconds of plugging the pump in it may need priming.
6. To prime the pump, unplug the electrical cord for several seconds and then plug back in.
7. Repeat if necessary.
Do Not Run Dry! Always disconnect the unit if there is no water running through it to prevent overheating and
possible pump damage.
Adjusting Water Flow
All SP series pumps have an intake flow adjuster on the front, which can be turned to regulate water to the pump.
Maintenance & Care
BEFORE CARRYING OUT ANY MAINTENANCE, THE UNIT MUST BE DISCONNECTED FROM THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT.
WARNING: Failure to carry out routine maintenance or leaving the pump under reduced or
no-flow conditions for long periods (i.e. blocked filter) will result in accelerated wear.
Do not lift the pump by the electrical cable as this may cause irreparable damage to the electrical cable, which cannot
be replaced if damaged. Instead, lift the pump by the housing.
Cleaning Instructions
After use, there may be a noticeable flow decrease in your water feature. This is often due to algae and other debris
building up within the water tubing, water feature tubing, or inside the pump housing.
SP425
Cleaning the Tubing
Mfg #19033
1. Remove the tubing from the pump. (In most cases, the algae or debris build up can be flushed out of the tubing

with a garden hose at high pressure. The tubing within the water feature can be flushed out in the same manner.
2. If the tubing is still clogged, push a thin wooden dowel-rod into the tubing to dislodge debris. Flush with water.
3. Buy new tubing and replace if blockage cannot be removed.
Cleaning the Pump
1. The pump can be cleaned without disassembly, by spraying with a garden hose into the front slots to flush out pre-filter
sponges and impeller assembly. Be careful not to use excessive water pressure. Re-attach water tubing and test the
water feature.
2. If pump blockage still occurs, remove the impeller and clean as described below.
To Remove and Clean Impeller
1. Unplug the pump.
2. Remove pre-filter cage.
3. Remove impeller cover
4. Gently pull impeller off shaft.
CAUTION: Be careful not to bend shaft.
5. Flush impeller, shaft and housing with water.
TO Re-Install Impeller
1. Be sure the pump is unplugged.
2. Slide impeller back onto shaft.
3. Take care not to bend the shaft.
4. Re-install impeller cover.
5. Re-install pre-filter cover.
NOTE: Use only clean water to lubricate impeller assembly and shaft. DO NOT ADD LUBRICANTS!

TROUBLE SHOOTING
If the pump fails to operate, please check the following:
1. If flow does not occur within seconds of plugging the pump in, it may need priming.
• To prime the pump, unplug the electrical cord for several seconds and then plug back in.
• Repeat if necessary.
2. Check the circuit breaker or try another electrical outlet to ensure the pump is getting power.
NOTE
: Always disconnect from electrical outlet before handling the pump.
3. Check the tubing for kinks and obstructions. Check pre-filter screens for blockage. Follow cleaning steps in
maintenance section if blockage is suspected.
4. Remove impeller cover to access the impeller. Turn rotor to ensure that it is not broken or jammed. Replacement
impellers are available from Tetra Customer Care.
NEVER RUN THE PUMP WITHOUT WATER
WARNING: This pump is fitted with a thermal cut-off device that temporarily switches off the
pump in the event of overheating. The pump may start automatically after the pump cools down.
The Tetra Statuary Pump in the Winter
If there is a danger of the water freezing, the pump should be removed from the water, cleaned with water,
and stored in a frost-free location for the duration of the winter.
Adverse Effects of Chlorine
Water with a high concentration of chlorine may degrade the sponge pre-filters used with this pump. Please avoid
adding chlorine to self-contained fountains. The chlorine found in most tap water is a low concentration and will
not harm the pump.
Reducing Pump Clogging
For self-contained fountains and statuary, clogging of pumps is typically not a problem. If the statuary pump is
used in a small pond or small container pond, these typically have various levels of debris such as leaves, string
algae, and other plant material that can clog the intake of water garden pumps and fountain heads.
Pre-Filter PPS1
The PPS1 can be easily attached to the intake of the SP330 or SP425 pump.
(NOTE: It does not fit SP75 or SP140). It prevents debris from clogging the pump impeller, thus reducing pump
clogging and maintenance. It also helps clean the water of very small container ponds and self-contained
fountains. Should the pre-filter clog too quickly, you may consider removing the foam and use the shell only.
FOUNTAIN SETS
FS1 Fountain Set can be used
