Gas detectors are high-technology devices in which the presence of cer-
tain combustible gases triggers an alarm. We recommend to refer to
authorized techniciens for their installation, for routine and special
maintenance and for their diasassemblig after 5 years. The detectors
are designed to trigger the alarm off when gas concentration reaches a
point of between 5% and 15% of the lowest explosion limit. The opera-
ting conditions are at room temperature of between -5°C and +35°C
and a maximum relative humidity of 85%. The detection threshold may
vary in practice but will not exceed a point of 20% of the lowest explosi-
ve limit in five years of use.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF OPERATIONS
When the concentration of gas in the air exceeds the threshold, the
detector starts woking switching on the RED LED on the front of the
appliance and triggering the built-in acoustic alarm. The detector can set
off a second siren located in a different room.
When the concentration of gas falls below the detection threshold the
gas detector's alarm switches itself off. The solenoid valve has to be reset
manually. Please read the following paragraph for information on first
installations and activation after prolonged inactivity.
DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION
The front part of the appliance is pierced to facilitate contact between
the gas to be detected and the semiconductor - based sensor. Three
LEDs and a pushbutton on the front of the appliance allow the operation
of the gas detector to be monitored in the following way:

By pressing the pushbutton for three seconds, the detector will give an
acoustic alarm and the TEST function will be activated offering the possi-
bility of testing the optic and acoustic alarms.

The test steps are the following:
Activation of the TEST by a BEEP
Red LED for 20 seconds
Yellow LED for 20 seconds
End of TEST operations by a BEEP.
Whereas by pressing the pushbutton for 6 seconds at least, the detector
will give two acoustic alarms. The test function includes the relay testing.
On connecting the detector, the GREEN LED will flash for 2 minutes
approx. (known as "initial stabilization period") during this time the
detector cannot test the quantity of gas present in the enviroment.
Under the front, on the right of the switch, there is a strapping with
which is possible to switch on or off the memory of the alarm.
• Strapping in: alarm's memory off
• Strapping out: alarm's memory on
The detector keeps the alarm in memory and signals it,
even though the gas concentration is fallen below the
treshold (flashing RED LED). Memory is then cancelled
by pressing the switch found on the front.
It is advisable not to use the alarm's memory if the detector is connected
to an alarm's central unit.
It is important to note that when the appliance is switched on after a
long period (more than 2 weeks) without power, it takes between 7 and
10 days for the sensory component to acquire stability of its physical-
chemical characteristics and thus a constant level of sensitivity. It is the-
refore strongly recommended to make sure that this "period of conditio-
ning" has passed before carrying out any checks on the activation level.
The built-in siren and the detector relay control the detector is fitted with
are activated after a delay time of about 20 seconds from the moment
when the threshold of activation is reached, shown by the illumination of
the RED LED. If the concentration of gas falls below the activation level
during this time span, the signal is cancelled and the above mentioned
delay time is reset.
