RISKS
General risk
TENS only treats symptoms. It reduces the feeling of pain, but it
does not cure the cause of the pain. Pain may be a signal from your
body that some part of your body is damaged and needs attention.
Specific risks
• You may get skin irritation and burns under the electrodes applied
to your skin.
• You may experience muscle exhaustion or muscle soreness after
extended use on the same muscles.
• Stop using the device and consult your physician if you experi-
ence adverse reactions from the device

5. How TENS works for pain relief

What is it?
The WirelessTENS&EMS Device EM 70 is highly effective in tem-
porarily relieving pain. Gentle electrical pulses are sent via water
contact electrodes through the skin to the nerve fibres. Cramps,
acute pain, pain resulting from injury and chronic pain are all natural
warning signs that come from the body. TENS, or transcutaneous
electrical nerve stimulation, relates to the electrical stimulation of the
nerves via the skin. TENS is an effective nonpharmacological meth-
od of treating different types of pain that have a variety of causes. It
has no side-effects if administered correctly. The method has been
clinically tested and approved and can be used for simple self-
treatment. The pain-relieving or pain-suppressing effect is achieved
by inhibiting the transference of pain to nerve fibres (caused mainly
by high-frequency impulses) and by increasing the secretion of
endorphins in the body. Their effect on the central nervous system
reduces the sensation of pain. The method is scientifcally substanti-
ated and approved as a form of medical treatment. Any symptoms
that could be relieved using TENS must be checked by your doc-
tor. Your doctor will also give you instructions on how to carry out a
TENS self-treatment regime.
