Requirements for the installation location of the electrical
components
CAUTION
Possible damage to property.
To prevent short circuit or corrosion, as well as damage
to the components and wiring harnesses:
The Central telematics unit, including the GPS antenna
and the optional diagnostic plug, must be installed in a
dry and dust-protected location (e.g. in the driver's cab).
The central telematics unit (including the GPS antenna)
as well as the wiring harnesses N and L must be installed
or fixed in the vehicle in such a way that they cannot be
damaged by vehicle movements and vibrations.
To ensure good connection quality with the mobile network and
the GPS satellites, make sure that neither the telematics unit nor
the GPS antenna is completely shielded from metallic material.
Ensure that the central telematics unit, including the GPS antenna,
is installed outside a potential impact zone for passengers in the
event of an accident.
At the same time, the central telematics unit should be easily
accessible in the driver's cab in order to enable a quick check
of the current status on the basis of the LED display.
For the later assignment of the central telematics unit to a vehicle
in the ContiConnect portal, the serial number of the device (label
imprint "Serial-No." on the top of the device) is required.
