8. Insert carriage bolt (F) (installed in mulch plug) through
mounting hole at left side of mower deck. Install locking
wing nut (D) onto bolt and tighten completely.

Install Mulch Blades

CAUTION: Avoid injury! Mower blades are
sharp. Always wear gloves when handling
mower blades or working near blades.
IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! The mulching blades
provided are the only blades for use with the mulch
plug. Use of other blades will destroy the mulch plug
and may damage the tractor and mower deck.
John Deere Select Series™ X300 Models:
NOTE: Install beveled washer so that the cupped side
faces upward.

1. Install mulching blade (A) onto the threaded stud (B) on
bottom of deck. Position mulching blade so sharpened
edges angle downward and arched side is upward.
2. Install beveled washer (C) and secure with nut (D).
Tighten nut to 68 N•m (50 lb-ft). Repeat for other blade.

LT, and LX/GT Models:
NOTE: Install beveled washer so that the cupped side
faces upward.

1. Install washer (B) and bevel washer (C) onto bolt (A).
2. Make sure deflector cup (D) is seated properly over
mower deck spindle. Position mulching blade (E) so
sharpened edges angle downward and arched side is
against the deflector cup.
3. Install bolt (A), washer (B), and bevel washer (C) to
secure the blade. Tighten bolt to 75 N•m (55 lb-ft). Repeat
for other blade.
