Operation

WARNING: Always wear safety goggles, an adequate dust mask, hearing protection and
suitable gloves, when working with this tool.
WARNING: Do not touch the moving sanding sheet.
Note: Always use clamps to secure your workpiece to the workbench wherever possible.
WARNING: NEVER allow the sandpaper to completely wear down before replacing it. Failure
to observe these precautionary measures can lead to damage to the hook and loop surfaces,
resulting in sanding sheets failing to attach properly.
Switching on and off
WARNING: Hold the tool securely and make sure that you have full control at all times.

1. Connect the plug to the power supply
Note: The PowerGLO Indicator (6) neon light will illuminate when the machine is supplied
with mains power.
2. Push the On/Off Switch (3) forward to start the machine
3. Pull the On/Off Switch back to stop the machine
WARNING: Always wait until the machine has stopped vibrating completely before putting it
down. Always disconnect from the power supply after use.
Sanding tips
If the tool is connected to a vacuum dust extraction system, switch the extraction device
on before switching on the sander. Switch the sander off first, then the vacuum system
Move the machine in a circular motion over the workpiece surface, applying an even,
moderate pressure until you reach the desired surface finish
WARNING: Excessive pressure does not lead to a faster removal of material; it will however
lead to premature wear of the sanding sheet, and may cause damage to the machine.
If there are still scratches on your workpiece after sanding, refer to 'Selecting the right
grade of sanding sheet'
Emptying the dust extraction canister
WARNING: Always switch off and disconnect from the power supply before detaching the
dust extraction system.
WARNING: Always wear respiratory protection, eye protection and gloves when emptying
the Dust Bag (12).
Note: For optimum dust removal, empty the Dust Bag when it is no more than half full.
1. To remove the Dust Canister (7), rotate it slightly to disengage the bayonet lock, and pull
the Dust Canister off the tool
2. Open the Dust Canister and remove the internal Dust Bag for cleaning
Note: If the sanding dust contains harmful substances, such as particles from old paint,
varnish, surface coatings etc., always dispose of according to laws and regulations.
Note: Always clean the tool THOROUGHLY when switching from sanding wood to sanding
metal and vice versa.

Maintenance

WARNING: Always ensure that the tool is switched off and the plug is removed from the
power point before making any adjustments or maintenance procedures.
WARNING: Wear adequate protective equipment whilst cleaning and carrying out
maintenance, including eye and respiratory protection.
Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear quickly,
and shorten the machine's service life
Keep the tool's air vents unclogged and clean at all times
Regularly check to see if any dust or foreign matter has entered the grills near the motor
and around the On/Off Switch (4)
Use a soft brush or clean compressed air to remove any accumulated dust
If the body of the tool needs cleaning, wipe it with a soft damp cloth. A mild detergent can
be used, but NEVER use alcohol, petrol or other aggressive cleaning agents. Never use
caustic agents to clean plastic parts
WARNING: Water must never come into contact with this tool.
General inspection
Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight. They may vibrate loose over time
Power cord maintenance
Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or wear
Repairs should be carried out by an authorised GMC service centre
This advice also applies to extension cords used with this tool
Hook and loop surfaces
Hook and loop surfaces need to be clean, free of dirt and foreign matter, such as hair,
fibres, sand etc.
In order to provide adequate adhesion for securing accessories, hook and loop surfaces
must be in good condition
When used extensively, hooks and loops will become elongated or broken, and the
mechanism cannot provide the required strength of adhesion anymore
Note: This sander's hook and loop Sanding Bases are NOT a warranty items. Replacement
bases can be obtained through an authorised GMC service centre.
Replacing the carbon brushes
Note: This sander is supplied with one set of replacement brushes.
1. To access a carbon brush, first prise open the Removable Side Clips (2) on both sides of
the tool, using a wide slotted screwdriver, and remove both clips
