Connect to your network
Note: Ensure that your DIR-451 Mobile Router is not powered up before performing
the installation steps below.
1. Attaching the antenna.
a. Remove the antenna from its plastic wrapper.
b. Drive the antenna screws into the back panel of the
router in clockwise direction.
c. Once secured, position the antenna in an upward
direction at its connecting joint. This will ensure optimal
reception.
2. Insert your wireless 32-bit PCMCIA (HSUPA/HSDPA/UMTS) card into
the WWAN card slot or connect a 3G USB Modem to the USB port of
the DIR-451.
3. Insert the Ethernet cable into LAN Port 1 on the back panel of the
DIR-451, and the other end to an Ethernet port of the computer which
will be used for configuring this router.
Note: The LAN ports of the DIR-451 Mobile Router are Auto-MDI/MDIX, which provides
either patch or crossover Ethernet cable LAN Port access.
4. Connect the power adapter to the receptor on the back panel of your
DIR-451. Then plug the other end of the power adapter into a wall outlet
or power strip.
a. The Power LED will turn blue which indicates that
power has been supplied.
b. Other LEDs will also turn blue as the DIR-451 Mobile
Router performs initialization and Internet connection
processes. This will take a few minutes.
c. After you configure your Internet connection (using
the Setup Wizard), the following LEDs will turn blue:
Status, 3G Access, WLAN, and LAN Port 1 (or your
specific LAN Port connection).
