Battery disposal

Batteries should not be disposed of with normal household
waste. Consumers are legally obliged to dispose of used
batteries at a collection point in their town/district or at a
retail store. They may contain poisonous heavy metals and
must be disposed of in accordance with the rules for the
treatment of hazardous waste. The chemical symbols for
heavy metals are as follows:
Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead.
Dispose of batteries only when they are fully discharged.
