Problem
While using the respirator
according to these User
Instructions:
you taste or smell
contaminants, or
your nose, mouth, throat or
lungs feel irritated,
or breathing becomes difficult,
or dizziness or ther distress
occurs
Poor visibility through
faceshield
Low airflow
Abrasive blast media collects
inside the outer faceshield
Possible Cause
Respirator or supplied
air system malfunction,
misassembly or misuse.
faceshield is scratched or
coated with debris.
faceshield cover is scratched
or coated with debris.
Air supply pressure too low.
Kink or leak in supply hose.
defective air regulating valves.
Loose supply hose connections.
Supply hose disconnected.
outer faceshield frame is loose.
outer faceshield is not securely
attached to the faceshield
frame.
faceshield frame gaskets are
missing or damaged.

Corrective Action
Leave the work area
immediately, notify your
supervisor.
do not use the respirator until
it has been inspected and a
performance check has been
completed according to the
procedures in the "operating
and Inspection" sections of
these User Instructions.
Consider using an abrasive
blast screen (W-8116) and
faceshield covers.
Replace faceshield or wipe off
debris.
Remove cover or wipe off
debris.
Adjust air pressure to within
range specified in the User
Instructions that accompany
the air control device that you
are using.
Reposition or replace hose.
Repair or replace.
Reconnect fittings.
Reconnect hose.
Verify that faceshield frame
latch clips are closed
completely and the locking pins
are in place.
Adjust the position of the metal
latch clips as described in the
"Assembly" section of these
User Instructions.
Remove the outer faceshield
frame and verify that the outer
faceshield is correctly installed
and that the swivel locks are in
the correct position.
Replace the faceshield frame
gaskets (W-8113).
