3. The lanyard can only be used by a single person who is trai-
ned and competent, or who is under the responsibility of
such a person.

Operation
Inspection before use
Check:
• Visual inspection of the state of the lanyard, the seams and/or
the splices. The cord, the belt and the stitches should not show
any signs of wear and tear, burns or cuts. In case of doubt,
immediately withdraw the equipment from use.
• Check the state of the harness and connector attachments.
• Check the complete fall arrester system.
Functions and description
• The full length of the lanyard, equipped with an energy absor-
ber, two machined ends and two connectors, must not exceed
2 m.
• Single lanyards, without shock absorber, (fig. 2 page 2), or posi-
tioning lanyards, are not fall protection lanyards, and must not
be used as a fall arrest system. They are designed to guard
against the risk of a fall by preventing the user accessing dan-
gerous areas (fig. 4 on last page). They are used to create or to
lower an anchoring point.
Specific lanyards:
• The back D-ring extension lanyard (ref. 032872 - fig.2.b, page
2), makes it easier for users to connect the back attachment
point to a fall arrest device (figure 7 page 4).
• The fork rescue lanyard (ref. 032862 - fig.2.a) is used after a fall
to evacuate a person who has fallen as efficiently as possible.
It is connected to the shoulder straps of the harness worn
by the person to be rescued using two spring hooks (figure 5
page 3).
• The lanyard for retractable lifeline for use on roofs (ref. 035032
- fig.2.e page 2). This is compulsory for horizontal use of our
10 m and 20 m metal rope retractable devices. It must be
connected as shown in figure 6 on the page 3.
Installation
As far as possible, the structural anchorage point should be at a
height of between 1.5 and 2 metres above the feet of the user.
The anchoring point must withhold a minimal resistance of 10 kN.
The connection to the anchoring point or to the structure must be
done using an EN 362 connector.
For connecting the fall arrester system to the anti-fall harness,
please refer to the instructions manual provided with the harness
to be sure to use the correct hook and attaching method.
CAUTION
Before and during use, it is necessary to plan out how pos-
sible rescue can be efficiently and safely conducted, within
less than 15 minutes. Beyond such time, the person's life is
in danger.
