PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
Failure to perform regular maintenance tasks could
result in bodily injury and/or property damage.
The service life of a tool can be greatly improved
with proper care and maintenance. To extend the
life of your cable cutter, follow the recommended
maintenance tasks outlined below.
DAILY
• Cutting blades have a finite life expectancy.
Carefully inspect blades according to the PRE-
OPERATION instructions and replace as often
as necessary.
• Keep all tool surfaces free of grease, dirt and
foreign material.
• Keep the ram and piston area clean at ALL times
to prevent scoring or damage.
• Inspect the tool hydraulic system and hoses and
fittings for signs of leakage, cracks, wear or
damage. Replace the hoses and/or fittings if
necessary. Reference SAE Standard J1273 for
the recommended practice of "Selection,
Installation and Maintenance of Hoses and Hose
Assemblies" (see Appendix A).
• To prevent contamination from entering the
hydraulic system, install the dust cap (where
applicable) over the hydraulic port when the tool
is disconnected.
MONTHLY
• Lubricate the exterior of the tool, the cutting
blades, and the blade guide with a high-grade
silicon spray.
SEMI-ANNUALLY
• Drain the hydraulic system fluid. Flush out the
hydraulic system and fill with new, clean fluid.
If the fluid turns dark or becomes milky colored
prior to the semi-annual inspection, it should
be changed as soon as possible.
