Alternador
LSA 32, 2 Polos
5 - FAULT FINDING PARTS TO BE CHECKED
1 - Without load
Registered fault
No voltage with no load
when starting
Voltage with
no load less than
80 % of nominal voltage
Too high voltage
without load
2 - With load
Correct voltage
with load, low voltage with load
Excessive heat (over heating)
Alternator
LSA 32, 2 Pole
Initial cause of fault
Loss of residual magnetism
Defective capacitor
Rotor diode out of order
or short circuit
Winding short circuit or loose
connections
Speed of engine too low
1 rotor diode out of order or
short circuit
Partiel short circuit in winding
Speed of engine too high
1 rotor diode short circuit
or out of order
The speed engine falls off
Ventilator holes partially blocked
Action to be taken
Apply a battery 4,5 V to capacitor
terminals
Load the alternator and run engine above
nominal speed for a few seconds.
Change the capacitor (§ 6-3)
Change the 2 diodes on the rotor
(§ 6-3)
Check the resistance of coils
(as table) (§ 2-3)
Set speed of engine to 3120 rpm or
3720 rpm with no load (frequency
alternator 52 Hz or 62 Hz).
Change the 2 diodes on the rotor (§ 6-2)
short circuit
Check the resistance of the coils
(as table). (§ 2-3)
Adjust the speed to 3120 rpm
or 3720 rpm ( 52 Hz or 62 Hz)
Change the 2 diodes on the rotor
(§ 6-2.1)
