INSTRUCTIONS
The DICROMAT proximity switch captures invisible infrared emissions coming from people and other heat sources without emitting any type of
radiation.
When a heat source moves in front of the proximity switch, its output circuit is activated and once it stops capturing the movement, it switches
off after an adjustable delay time.
The DICROMAT only reacts when the light conditions are below the selected level. The DICROMAT 2 has a second circuit which reacts
independently to the level of light. This circuit is especially indicated to control dark charges, such as extractors, air-conditioning, heating,
surveillance cameras, etc. The DICROMAT is not suitable for alarm systems.
Installation
Note: the installation and fitting of the electric devices must be undertaken by an authorised installer. The apparatus is internally protected
against interferences caused by safety circuits. However, some specially strong electromagnetic fields could cause damage to its correct
functioning; therefore, it must not be installed near inductive charges (motors, transformers, etc).
When installing the DICROMAT, it must be taken into account that detection occurs when the detection beams cross; therefore, if the heat
source to detect is parallel to the beams, detection occurs at a smaller distance since the beams do not cross until arriving very close to the
device.
In the figures above, the arrow indicates the direction of the movement of the person or object to detect. The environmental temperature of the
premises where the DICROMAT is installed affects detection sensibility quite a lot and therefore the detection distance. The higher the
temperature, worse is the sensibility, since the device works through heat source movement, (in the majority of cases 36ºC for the human
body); the nearer to 36ºC is the environmental temperature, worse is the detection.
Fog or rain can negatively affect the detection field. Warm clothing reduces the quantity of heat given to the premises, therefore diminishing
detection sensibility.
If two DICROMATs are connected in the same premises, the lamp activated by one of them should not be situated in the detection field of the
other.
FIXTURE
Fix it into the ceiling, avoiding any highly reflective surfaces (liquids) that may be found in its detection field, or elements subject to quick
temperature changes (heating, air-conditioning, or light sources and objects that can be moved in the wind (curtains, small trees, etc).
Make a 65mm diameter drill hole. The thickness of the ceiling must be between 5 and 25 mm.
Disconnect the electric current before beginning the installation and connections.
