Systemsoftware
CD 1 987 009 AS6N contains the system software WA 9XX in
all language versions. The installation starts by inserting the CD
into the CD ROM drive.
The installation program offers five languages in which the
installation dialogue can be displayed. This language selection is
only to be used for installation purposes and has nothing to do
with the language used in the wheel alignment program.
Two steps are needed to install the wheel alignment software on
a new PC where neither the wheel alignment software nor MS
ACCESS (database software) has been installed so far. In the
first step, the data base access module MDAC is installed; after
a re-boot, the wheel alignment program will then be installed.
In principle, the wheel alignment software is to be found in the
Windows program folder (e.g. c:\program files\...) in the sub-
directory \alignment.
Data adapted to the user or changed by the user and thus to be
saved are in the following folders:
- \alignment — the main directory
user.ini and usera.ini , contain the user setup settings
- \alignment\bank — the database directory.
dbuser.mdb is the vehicle data base created by the customer
(„user database")
* union.mdb and work.mdb are the database files which contain
customer information, editor and job records.
- \alignment\text contains a sub-folder with ini text files for
each operating language. They can be changed by the adminis-
trator, the structure must remain the same, however. If changes
have been made, the appropriate ini files must also be saved.
- \alignment\help contains a sub-folder with the help files in the
HTML format for every operating language. They can be chan-
ged by the administrator, their structure must remain the same,
however. If changes have been made, the corresponding ini
files must also be saved.

- \alignment\graphics\logo
logofew.bmp and logofef.bmp are two picture files which can
change the software cover picture (primary and secondary
adaptation)
- \alignment\image
imgprbarra4.bmp is the logo file for the protocol imprint. A f -
ter the first start, the software is principally executed in English
and in the cable device version (WA900), thus the set-up
according to the operating instructions must be executed first
in order to obtain other settings.
Please note: After the set-up of the sensor type or of a COM port,
the software must be re-started so that the settings can become
valid.
If a new wheel alignment program is to be installed, execute the
de-installation program and then install the new program. In this
case all data and adjustments should be preserved. If it is not
necessary to preserve all data and adjustments, the folder \align-
ment should be deleted after the de-installation.
! Wird die Fehlermeldung „Wheel Alignement System Run-
ning" angezeigt, muss imPfad C:\Programme\Alignement\
die Datei exist.ini gelöscht werden.
5.1

Software protection / upgrades

The system software can be installed on any PC and runs in
demonstration mode on the PC. In order to execute a wheel
alignment program, however, the USB hardware (1 987 009
AE4N) should be installed and must be controlled via the correct
driver (pre-installation in the operating system of the PC U01/
U03/U04) and equipped with an appropriate master Smartcard.
This card has the size of a mobile telephone SIM card and has
been factory-installed. Apart from making it possible to work with
an wheel alignment program, this card also makes it possible to
use the vehicle nominal data up to a certain year.
In addition to that, a slot for a second Smartcard in the size of a
cheque card exists („secondary Smartcard"). This slot is only
used if an upgrade Smartcard has been purchased and plugged
in.
In principle, the process then consists of copying the purchased
functions from the secondary card onto the primary card so that
the secondary card will then be 'used up'.

Diagnosis functions and diagnosis aids

6.1

Indicator lamps

The 4 x 2 green LEDs of the battery charging station help with the
diagnosis of typical errors occurring in connection with the
charging PCBs, like e.g. defective fuses.
The three red (green as from 04-2003) LEDs on the power supply
unit PCB indicate the existence of the three supply voltages (+8V,
+15V, -15V).
In the interior of the remote transceiver box (1 987 009 AG3N),
a red LED indicates the existence of the supply voltage of +8 V
by a constant illumination. In most cases, the second LED will
flash, indicating a communication activity, which is not a secure
indicator for proper functioning.
At the PC, a green lamp indicates that the PC has been switched
on (if the same lamp flashes slowly and uniformly, the PC is in the
standby mode and can be 'activated' by pressing the mains
switch at the PC).
