WARNING
ged wheels under any circumstances
– check correct fit of the wheels in the dropouts
– check quick release skewer and thru axles for correct installation
– check tyres for any possible damages and air pressure (min /max )
– check the braking flank (model for rim brakes) for possible damages (scratches, cracks, abrasions or dents)
– general review of all components (rims, hubs, spokes) for possible damages
Riding and braking | while riding
Carbon dissipates heat in a manner unlike aluminium Especially on long rides, correct braking affects the
lifespan of the rims with carbon braking surface considerably
Intense heat generation on the braking surfaces may lead to impaired braking effect,
WARNING
material damages and thus lead to an accident
Tips for correct braking:
– familiarise yourself on the first ride with the braking characteristics of carbon rims
– new brake pads need a start-up period until the full braking force can be achieved
– always ride carefully
– in order to avoid substantial accumulation of heat, do not grind the brake pads
– brake briefly and powerfully with both brakes (interval braking)
– each opening of the brake lets the rim cool down
– in wet conditions, the braking response changes (ride carefully and take the altered braking effect into
account)
Info:
The tips for correct braking apply to the wheelset model in conjunction with rim brakes In the use of disc
brakes, the rim is not subject to any effect of heating
Heat is produced during braking Do not scald yourself on a hot brake flank or the disc

If you have a flat tyre, stop the bike as fast as possible Riding on the rim can damage

In case of a heavy fall, non-visible damage to the wheelset may arise After a fall, do not
WARNING
ride the bicycle for your own safety Next, contact your specialist dealer or rie:sel design
to assess the wheels
Transport
– do not place any objects on the wheels
– when using lashing straps, bolster areas sufficiently
– during transport on the rear carrier, keep plenty of space for the exhaust
– during transport in the car, reduce tyre pressure (high temperatures increase the air pressure)
Storage (> 1 month)
– lower tyre pressure
– clean wheels
– do not hang wheels on sharp hooks or similar implements
Cleaning
– cleaning with a soft cloth / sponge and non-aggressive cleaning agent
– do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, do not use high-pressure cleaners or hard water jet
– clean wheels regularly
– after each ride in rain, clean the wheels and the brake pads
Oil your chain sparingly Excess oil could reach the braking surface and substantially limit
WARNING
the braking effect Generally, no lubricant may reach the braking surfaces, brake pads and
brake discs
Sand, dirt and water act as sandpaper on the brake flank Clean both partners regularly in

order to increase the lifespan of the rims Do not use any high-pressure cleaner or hard
water jet to clean under any circumstances Water can reach behind seals and lead to
corrosion
