4.12 BEFORE STARTING WORK
IMPORTANT
If the planting unit is fi tted with a row marker device, turn the
discs to their working position before opening the hopper
cover for loading.
Before starting, lift the supporting base elements.
Before parking the seeder, lower the supporting feet by
carrying out the operation in the reverse order.
Hopper and tank fi lling
Hoppers and tanks can be lled by hand or using a lifter with a
capacity of at least 200 kg, which must be regularly approved by
the relative authorities. Please remember that lifting weights of
more than 25 kg requires more than one operator or the use of
hoisting apparatus.
- All seed spreader tank loading and unloading operations
must be carried out with the equipment at a standstill, on the
ground, with the frame open, with the hand brake on, with
the motor switched off and the starter key removed from
the control panel. Make sure that chemicals are kept out of
harm's way.
- All operations must be carried out by trained staff wearing
suitable protection (overalls, gloves, boots, masks etc) in a
clean, dust-free environment.
- Load from the outer sides of the machine.
- When fi lling the seed hoppers, ensure that no foreign bodies
(string, paper, etc.) enter them.
- The machine can transport chemical substances.Do not
allow children, people, pets to come near the machine.
4.13 STARTING WORK
- Check that all the drive shafts are properly engaged.
- Carefully check moving parts, driving parts and distribution.
- Regulate the metering mechanism as described in the preceding
chapters.
- Carry out a metering test as described in chapter 4.4.7 and 4.5.5.
- Periodically check the results of working.
IMPORTANT
For a successful seeding work it is useful to seed on a small
stretch and check that the seeds are regularly distributed in
the ground.

USE AND MAINTENANCE
4.14 DURING WORK
The seeder has been studied to allow a high sowing speed, com-
patible with the type and surface of the ground.
Bear in mind that a variation in tractor speed does not lead to a
corresponding variation in seed sown per hectare.
Always work at a constant speed. Sudden changes in speed may
result in an uneven distribution of the product.
Maintain e seeding speed compatible with type and cultivation
of the soil in order to avoid breakages or damage.
At the start of each new passage, the machine travels for approx a
metre before the seeds reach the seed-planting furrow through the
delivery tubes. Vice versa, at the end of the passage, it discharges
all the seeds present in the delivery tubes. This should always be
borne in mind to obtain a good nal result.
Always respect the following rules for successful sowing:
- Keep the tractor hydraulic lifting unit in its lowest position.
- every now and then check that the coulters are not blocked with
residues or clogged with soil that retains the seeds.
- check that the distributors are free from foreign bodies, that may
have accidentally entered the hopper. They could compromise
regular operation.
- Check at times that the operating parts are not covered with
vegetable residual matter or clogged by earth
- Check that the distributor is clean, and prevent any external
matter accidentally fallen into the hopper from hampering
the smooth working operation.
- Check in any case that the grain tubes are not clogged.
- Maintain a working speed compatible with type and cultiva-
tion of the soil
- Periodically check the results of distribution.
- The form dimensions and material of the drive shaft elastic
pins have been chosen for safety. The use of pins not ori-
ginal or more resistant, could cause serious damage to the
seeding machine.
- Avoid curves with the machine grounded, neither work in
reverse. Always lift it when changing direction or reversing.
- Maintain a seeding speed compatible with type and cultiva-
tion of the soil in order to avoid breakages or damage.
- Lower the seed drill when the tractor is in forward gear, to
avoid clogging or damage to the planting coulters; for the
same reason the tractor should not reverse when the seed
drill is on the ground.
- Make sure that no foreign material (rope, sack paper) enters
the storage tank when seed is being loaded.
The seeder can transport treated chemical substances toge-
ther with the seed. Do not allow children, people, pets to come
near the seeding machine. Keep away from the seed storage
tank and refrain from attempting to open it when the seeder
is working or about to begin working.
