1- WARNING
Transport
For information regarding the delivery of condensing units,
please refer to our sales terms and conditions.
Installation
- This condensing unit and all related equipment must be
installed by qualified staff.
- The installation should be carried out in accordance with the
relevant refrigeration and electrical standards which apply in
that country. Refrigeration best practice must be followed.
- TECUMSEH EUROPE S.A. shall not under any circumstance be
liable if the installation and maintenance are not carried out
in accordance with the instructions given in this manual.

3- INSTALLATION
■
3.1. Unpacking
Before unpacking the unit, check that the packaging has not been
damaged in any way and that the exterior is in good condition.
■
3.2. Handling
The packaged condensing unit can be lifted by forklift or pallet
truck. The unit should therefore be kept in its packaging until
it has been moved to the installation site.
Once the packaging has been removed, Silensys units can be
moved or lifted either by forklift or straps according to the
model. Units must not be dragged into position.
■
3.3. Location
Silensys condensing units should not block or obstruct
thoroughfares, doors, shutters or the movement of personnel.
The surface supporting the condensing unit must be level and
capable of bearing the combined weight of the unit + support.
See table in Appendix 1, page 26 for condensing unit weights.
Ensure there is sufficient distance between the condensing
unit and objects in the surrounding area to ensure good air
circulation.
See Appendix 3, pages 30 to 31
| Installation Instructions
Silensys condensing units must be installed in well-ventilated
but not windy locations. Ensure there is good air circulation to
the condenser. There must no obstacles in front or to the side
of the unit which would cause air recirculation to the
condenser resulting in an abnormally high condensation
temperature. The unit must be mounted in a level position
according to best refrigeration practice.
■
3.4. Noise levels
Silensys condensing units have been designed to operate
extremely quietly.
Precautions must be taken during installation to avoid
generating additional noise and vibration:
- Units must be securely mounted on a stable, rigid base,
- Connecting pipework must be sufficiently flexible to ensure
vibration is not transmitted to the rest of the installation.
We recommend isolating material be inserted between the
unit feet and the base or between the wall mounting brackets
and the wall. This can be either an isolating pad or anti-
vibration mounts.
■
3.5. Mounting (1 or 2 options according to model)
Ensure the unit is securely fixed to the type of floor or wall
surface upon which it is mounted using the appropriated
fixings (not supplied).
- Floor mounting
See Appendix 3, pages 30 to 31
Use the mounting kit supplied with the condensing unit.
- Wall mounting (single fan models only)
See Appendix 3, pages 30 to 31
Use the mounting kit supplied with the condensing unit.
■
3.6. Access to connections
See Appendix 4, page 32
■
3.7. Refrigeration connections
To ensure the quality of our products, the condensing unit has
been evacuated and charged with nitrogen.
On models SIL4568Z, SIL4573Z, SIL4590Z, SIL4610Z,
SIL4612Z, SIL4614Z, SIL4615Z, SIL4456Y, SIL4568Y, SIL4574Y,
SIL4586Y, the suction line from the valve to the end of the
tube is not under nitrogen (the suction line is plugged and the
valve closed).
WARNING
To maintain the quality of a TECUMSEH EUROPE condensing
unit and to ensure it functions correctly, the following
precautions must be taken:
- Protect the casing whilst brazing pipework,
- Purge the system with nitrogen whilst brazing,
- Insulate the suction line up to the compressor inlet with
anti-condensation pipe insulation.
See Appendix 1, page 26 to 27 for the refrigeration connections.
It is essential to insulate the suction pipework to limit the
nonuseful suction superheat pickup. For low temperature
applications, we advise using a minimum of 19mm of
insulation.
