The material roll should turn in an anti-clock-
wise direction when unwinding!
4. Open the printhead contact lever [2C].
5. Insert the material as illustrated [4][5][6].
6. Push the material guiding [3D] towards the
material edge. Be cautious not to wedge in
the material.
7. Adjust the punch sensor. Shift the sensor at
its handle [3E], until the pointer [3F] is placed
above the punch.
Material with reflex mark: Place pointer 5 mm
left of the reflex mark.
8. Close the printhead contact lever.
9. Close the front hood.
AP 5.4 with internal rewinder
Additionally guide the material end around
the deflector and fix it with the clamp to the
rewinder [5].
AP 5.4 with dispensing edge
Additionally remove 50 cm of labels from the
backing paper. Pull through the backing
paper end under the roll on the dispensing
edge, place around the dispensing edge and
fix with the clamp on the rewinder [6].
Adjusting the printhead support
Only set if material width < one half of print-
head width:
When printing on narrow label stock, it is pos-
sible that the printhead will come into direct
contact with the print roller in the area free of
material. This can lead to premature failure
on the printhead and can also cause a varia-
tion in the darkness of the printout across the
label.
Therefore activate the printhead support
when printing on narrow label stock!
The current position of the printhead support
is visible at the scale of the thumb wheel [3G].
For wide material position „0" is recommen-
ded.
1. For narrow material turn the thumb wheel
clockwise, until the mark points to the „1". The
printhead is lifted slightly at its end.
2. Print a label and check if the printout is consi-
stent across the label. If not, turn the thumb
wheel a little bit further.
3. Repeat the steps 1 to 3 until the darkness of
the printing is consistent across the label.
