F. Transistors Iceo Measurement
1. Connect the red test lead to +AVΩ terminal and the black test
lead to -COM terminal.
2. Select the rotary switch to x10 (15mA) range for small transistors,
or to x1 (150mA) range for big transistors.
3. Touch the test leads together and adjust the 0Ω ADJ. button
(Zero Adjustment) until the pointer indicate ZERO in the Ω
(BLACK) scale. Make this procedure always that select a new
Iceo range.
4. Connect the transistor as following:
- For NPN transistors, the N (-COM) terminal of multimeter is
connected to the transistor collector and the P (+) terminal of
multimeter to the transistor emitter.
- For PNP transistors, the N (-COM) terminal of multimeter is con-
nected to the transistor emitter and the P (+) terminal of multimeter
to the transistor collector.
5. The reading is taken in Iceo scale.
Note:
Normally the pointer must be in the red section of Iceo scale (indi-
cated by LEAK word) or the pointer must indicate zero, indicating
that the transistor is good. In other hand, make the reading in Iceo
scale BLUE (continuing the Iceo scale in red).
G. Transistor hFE Measurement
1. Select the rotary switch to position x10(hFE)
2. Make the zero adjustment in the selected range, as in Resistance
Measurement.
3. Insert the terminals of the transistor directly into the socket to
measure hFE. Note that the indications C, B and E are respective
to the collector, base and emitter of the transistor. The indications
N and P on the socket represent transistors type NPN and PNP
respectively. Therefore obey the sequence E, B, C of correct type.
