8.4 The skin colour sensor
Light-based hair removal on darker skin tones may result in adverse effects
such as burns, blisters, and skin colour changes (hyper- or hypo-pigmenta-
EN
tion). Your Silk'n Jewel has a skin colour sensor that detects the colour of your
skin automatically (#7 in the diagram). If your skin tone is too dark for safe
use, the device will not operate, and the skin colour sensor light will
blink (#5 in the diagram).
8.5 What to expect when treating with Silk'n
For many people, using Silk'n Jewel may be their first experience with a light-
based device. During a treatment session it is normal to experience or feel:
Noise: The cooling fan makes noise similar to a hair dryer. This is
normal.
A popping sound: With each flash of HPL™ light.
A sensation of warmth and tingling: During each light pulse.
Some redness: It is not uncommon to see some very mild,
pink-like skin colouration during or just after a treatment. This is
usually most noticeable around the hairs themselves.
E
Stop use immediately if you see full redness of the skin.
