• The Flo-Pod™ system is not designed to
be used for abrasive blasting operations or
in applications with a high flammability risk.
Alternative PPE offering the necessary level
of protection should be utilised for such
applications.
• The Flo-Pod™ system should not be worn in
working environments that require the wearing
of safety helmets or where protection against
non-ionizing radiation is necessary.
• The wearing of a Flo-Pod™ system with a view
to duration, protection, comfort and heat
stress is generally the sole responsibility of
the user. Respirex assumes no responsibility
for improper use of the Flo-Pod™ system.
• Materials used in the construction of the
system are not known to cause allergic
reactions to the majority of individuals. The
system contains no components made from
natural rubber latex.

Battery charging
It is recommended that new or unused batteries
are charged and discharged using your Flo-
Pod™ turbo unit at least twice in order to
provide optimum duration.
The charger is universal and will charge both 4
and 8 hour batteries.
Charge time:
8hr pack – approx 5 hours,
4hr pack – approx 3hrs
Select the appropriate pin connector for your
electricity supply and slide into the battery
charger (Fig.1).
Connect the charger to a mains electricity
supply via a suitable switched socket, plug the
output lead into the battery pack (Fig.2), then
switch on the electricity supply. The position
of the orange on/off switch on the underside
of the battery pack is not important.
The charger has the following phases:
1. Within the first 5 minutes the charger will
charge and determine the battery type
(LEDs cycle)
2. Fast charging – the charger will charge
fast but safely up to approx 80-85% of full
capacity (LED orange)
3. Top up charge at a lower rate for one hour
to complete the charge (LED green with

In order to maintain optimum working duration
of the Flo-Pod™ system it is recommended
that your battery pack be allowed to regularly
discharge by at least 75% before recharging,
i.e. do not recharge after only short periods of
use. Overcharging can lead to a reduction of
battery capacity.
Safe use of battery charger
The battery charger must not be used in either
an outdoor or wet environment.
Do not attempt to service the battery charger;
the charger contains no user-serviceable
parts.

Flo-Pod™ installation
The Flo-Pod™ turbo unit is mounted from the
inside of the hood of your garment.
Before mounting, ensure the black rubber
gasket is correctly fitted to the opening at the
front of the garment visor and that the filter
seal fitted at the bottom of the internal thread
on the turbo unit is in good condition and
positioned correctly.
From the inside of the hood, insert the
threaded turbo inlet through the opening
(Fig.3); the coiled power cable should be
pointing directly downwards and the air outlet
(grille) uppermost.
Place the white plastic washer over the
threaded turbo unit inlet and screw on the
special nut (Fig. 4 & 5).
The nut should be tightened by hand using the
special spanner supplied (Fig.6).
Pass the coiled power cable through the eyelet
in the neck seal of your garment until the cable
gland is positioned centrally in the eyelet and
the cable is trailing down to the battery pack
waist belt position.
