How to install and replace batteries in the Temperature Transmitter
The Transmitter uses 2 x Micro - AAA, IEC LR3, 1.5V batteries. Should the LCD become dimmer, then
the batteries in this unit need to be changed. To install and replace batteries please follow the steps
outlined below:
1. Unscrew the screw on the back of the compartment and remove the cover.
2. Insert batteries observing correct polarization.
3. Replace battery cover on unit and seal by re-screwing.
How to install and replace the batteries in the Temperature Station
The Temperature Station uses 2 x Mignon AA, IEC LR6, 1.5V batteries. Should the LCD become dimmer,
then the batteries in this unit need to be changed. To install and replace the batteries please follow the
steps below:
1. Insert finger or other solid object in the hole at the bottom centre of the battery compartment and lift up
to remove the cover.
2. Insert batteries observing correct polarization.
3. Replace battery compartment cover.
It is recommended to replace the batteries in both units on an annual basis to ensure optimum accuracy of
these units.

SET
* used to set the clock when a time signal cannot be received.
INDOOR (INNEN)
* used to toggle the indoor display between current temperature, minimum recorded temperature and
maximum recorded temperature.
OUTDOOR (AUSSEN)
* used to toggle the outdoor display between current temperature, minimum temperature and maximum
temperature.
RESET
* used to reset the minimum or maximum temperatures. To do this, press and hold the INDOOR or
OUTDOOR button, then press the RESET button for more than 3 seconds.
* use this key to switch between temperature display for each transmitter if more than one has been used.
Each reading is accompanied by a number (1 to 5) to indicate which transmitter is being displayed.

* The LCD on the Temperature Station is split into three sections: radio-controlled time, indoor temperature
and outdoor temperature.

Radio-Controlled Time : The Physikalisch Technische Bundesantalt Braunschweig operates a Cesium
Atomic Clock with a calculated accuracy deviation of one second every million years. This time is coded

Note: In the event of changing either batteries in the Transmitter or Station, both units need to be completely
reset as per the "Getting Started" instructions. This is because a random security code is assigned by the
Transmitter at start-up and this code must be learnt by the Station in the first two minutes of power being
supplied to it.
Please participate in the preservation of the environment. Return used-up batteries to an authorized
depot.
Using the Temperature Station and Temperature Transmitter
Temperature Station:
There are four buttons on the unit under the LCD:

and transmitted from Mainflingen near Frankfurt. The range of this signal is approximately 1,500 Km.
Your Temperature Station receives this signal and converts it to show the totally precise time from this
clock - so when within this range your clock is totally accurate.
Once the outdoor temperature is displayed on the Temperature Station, the DCF tower icon in the clock
display will start flashing in the right corner. This indicates the clock has detected that there is a radio
signal present and is trying to receive it. When the time code is received, the DCF tower becomes
permanently lit and the time will be displayed. If the tower icon flashes but does not set the time or the
DCF tower does not appear, then please take note of the following:
* Recommended distance to any interfering sources like computer monitors or TV sets is a minimum of
1.5-2.0 metres.
* Within ferro-concrete rooms (basements, superstructures) the received signal is naturally weakened.
In extreme cases please place the clock close to a window and/or point its front or rear towards the
Frankfurt transmitter.
* During nighttime the atmospheric disturbances are usually less severe - the reception is possible in
most cases. A single daily reception is adequate to keep the accuracy deviation below 1.5 seconds.
Manual Clock Setting:
In some cases the Temperature Station may not be able to detect the DCF signal and so the DCF tower
will not show at all, as the DCF tower shows only when the time signal is present. To counter this the
clock can also be set manually. To do this:
1. Press and hold the "SET" key down for one second. The time display will start flashing.
2. Use the "INDOOR" key to set the hours and the "OUTDOOR" key to set the minutes.
3. When the time has been set either press the "SET" button once more to start the clock or do not press
any other buttons for around 10 seconds.
Please Note: the unit will still try and receive the signal every hour despite it being manually set. When
it does receive the signal it will change the time from the manually set time into the time that has been
received. If the DCF signal could be received then the radio tower icon will be blinking. If the reception
has been unsuccessful then the DCF tower icon will not appear but reception will still be attempted the
following hour.
