Safety warnings

To handle this product safely, it is necessary to read and comply with the
following safety warnings:
1.
Do not grease the blade, this could cause damage to the fiber optic
cleaver.
2.
This is a precision tool; if it falls to the ground it is likely to be dama-
ged, not making correct cuts from that moment.
3.
Never touch the blade with your hand or other parts of the body, its
blade edge could cut.
4.
The fiber optic cleaver should be stored in its protective cover when it
is not in use ( avoid humid places).
5.
Never use the fiber optic cleaver in unsafe positions.
6.
Fiber optics and their scraps are extremely dangerous because of
their thinness. The worker, to avoid damage to hands, eyes... should
take precautions such as:
Always wear safety glasses.
Collect leftover fibers (after cutting) in a special container.
Never touch the head of a fiber optic cable with your hands.
Never touch the blade directly.
7.
Do not strike the work lever, it could cause the fiber optic cleaver lose
cutting quality.

Basic specifications

Suitable fibre: SM and MM.
Fibers diameter allowing to work: Fibers with coating of 250, 900
microns and fibers with protection of 3mm.

Fiber optic cleaver dimensions: 56mm (Width) x 63mm (High) x 85mm
(Deep).

Use Procedure

1.
Push the work lever (the fiber optic cleaver will open).
2.
Open the fiber clamping flange.
3.
Push the blade slider down (front of the fiber optic cleaver).
4.
Peel from 30 to 40mm of the fiber to be cut (until leaving a fiber
thickness around 125 microns). Clean the peeled fiber with a wipe of
isopropyl alcohol.
5.
Place the peeled fiber over the guide slot (choose one of the 3, based
on the type of fiber you use). The fiber length that must remain after
the cut will depend on the requirements of the fusion splicer or other
equipment of fiber that uses. The usual value is 16mm, but you can
adjust it between 5 and 20mm.
6.
Close the fiber clamping flange.
7.
Make sure that the fiber is perpendicular to the cutting blade.
8.
Close the work lever.
9.
Move the blade slider up to the limit. The fiber will now be cut.
10.
Push the work lever (the fiber optic cleaver will open). At this point
the leftover fiber should be pushed into the fiber storage container.
11.
Catch the fiber and open the fiber clamping flange.
12.
Remove the fiber.
13.
After several operations, the fiber storage container must be emp-
tied.
