GENERAL
According to DIN EN 1717 backflow preventers are conceived as safety appliances, which must be
installed for the safeguard of drinking water against the impurities caused by back syphonage, back flow
or back pressure of non potable water into the drinking water system.
The choice of the suitable appliance can be made on the basis of the DIN EN 1717 standard.
In case of doubts, you can consult the local water supply authority.
The quality of water can be devided into 5 categories, depending on the grade of pollution, in other words
of risk for human health.
The highest danger is represented by the category 5.
Water falling under category 5 can be safeguarded only with one free outlet.
The 'BA' type backflow preventers according to DIN EN 1717 provide the protection of drinking water
against non potable water up to a danger category 4. This is the highest danger category which can be
protected by means of a mechanical (hydraulic) device.
An accurate installation and maintenance of the appliance guarantee its high reliability.
Installation and maintenance guidelines must be carefully followed along with the prescriptions of the local
water supply standards.

INSTALLATION
Flush the pipe (Picture 1)
Install the safety appliance. Beware of the flow direction (Picture 2).
Fig. 301V has a filter disc against dirt.
Put filter disc A onto the valve and then put the gasket B on it, as shown in pcture 3. By this operation take
care that the disc lays properly in its seat, otherwise the backflow preventer could leak.
In order to ensure a proper function of the backflow preventer we recommend to install a Y strainer
upstream.
We are not responsible for damages caused by a non-following of these instructions, by tampering or
wear, by calcification or corrosion, or malfuntion caused by dirt.
