GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION
Intended Use
The 3M TM Helmet Latch is intended for use with the 3M
The latch provides a method to allow the wide view faceshield a positive engagement,
preventing accidental raising during use.
USE INSTRUCTIONS AND LIMITATIONS
Important
Before use, the wearer must read and understand these User Instructions and the
3M TM L-Series Headgear User Instructions . Keep these instructions for reference.
Use For
Providing a positive hold down for the wide view faceshield in the L-901 and L-905 helmets.
Do Not Use For
As a latch mechanism for any other 3M respirator product.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Attaching the 3M
TM
Helmet Latch to the 3M
1. Place wide view lens in the down position. If you have an L-905 helmet leave the
weld shield in the up position.
2. Position the latch on the front jaw surface with the catch facing the wide view frame.
Slide the latch forward against the frame so the latch overlaps the rib on the frame.
Make sure the center of the latch (circular mark on top of latch) is aligned with the
center of the frame. (Fig. 1)
3. Carefully trace a mark on the jaw surface along the back and rounded circular sides
of the latch. (Fig. 2)
4. Raise the wide view frame. Locate the
latch in the same position traced on the
jaw. Now place a mark in the center of
each slotted hole of the latch.
5. Remove the latch and punch a center
point at the two-marked hole locations

on the jaw. Drill ˝ holes (3.18 mm),
one at each hole location.
Note: Make sure the shroud is removed
before you drill the holes.
6. Attach the latch to the jaw using the black
slotted 4-40 screws and Keps nuts. Adjust
the position of the latch back and forth for the amount of engagement desired to hold
the wide view frame down. Tighten the two screw/nut assemblies down. (Fig. 3)
7. Assemble the shroud back on the jaw by first sliding the front of the shroud on the jaw
and under the Keps nuts and screws. Continue to slide the shroud hose band within the
shroud around the sides and back of the jaw. Tighten the shroud down.
