Using focus lock

When
the
subject
does not
cover
the
autofocus
frame marks
"()",
the
cam-
era
focuses on the background
instead.
Position
the
autofocus frame marks
"()
"
directly on the subject
and
lightly
press
the shutter
release
button to
fo-
cus. The red LED
flickers
once
and
the
focus is locked at
this distance.
Note:
Do
not
alter
the
distance from
camera to
subject once
the focus
is
locked.
Keeping
your
finger
on the
shutter
re
-
lease button, recompose the orig inal
scene in
the viewfinder.
Now
depress
fully
to release
the
shutter.
BASIC
OPERATION
Special focusing situations
The following subjects may be too diffi-
cult to focus:
•
Subjects too
small
to fully
cover
the
autofocus frame
mar.

•
Dark
subjects with
no
reflection
•
Glossy
light-reflecting
surfaces,
such
as
shiny
cars
or
water

•
Subjects
without solid
content (i.
e.,
candle flame, fireworks,
etc.)
•
Secondary
subjects
are closer to the
camera than
the
main
subject.
In
the above cases
,
use
focus lock
by
focusing on another subject equidistant
from the camera and
follow
the
proce-
dure
in this
section.
