cloth. If the equipment gets wet, either through use or cle-
aning, it should be left to dry naturally, in a ventilated and
dark place, away from direct heat and chemical compounds.
MAINTENANCE
A competent person should periodically inspect and
maintain records of PPE on the equipment control OPERA-
TION SHEET at the end of this manual. Regular periodic
inspections are very important and should be carried out at
least once a year as the continued efficiency and durability
of the lanyard and therefore the safety of the user depends
on it. It is recommended that the equipment is checked and
inspected by a competent person for any damage or faults
that may occur, in strict accordance with the instructions
listed in the following point. Periodic checks should be
carried out as follows:
-Inspect the webbing for any damage or cuts.
- Check all metal parts for damage, cracks and rust.
- Check all plastic parts for damage.
- Check all seams of the PPE
- Record all inspection details on the equipment control
card.
- The annual inspection should be evidenced by a mark.
- Check the legibility of the marking on the equipment.
The equipment must be repaired only by the manufacturer
or a person authorised for this purpose, following the pro-
cedures laid down by the manufacturer. Repair instructions
shall be provided in the official languages of the country
where the equipment is put into service.
TRANSPORTATION
Personal protective equipment must be transported in
packaging which protects it against moisture, mechanical,
chemical and/or thermal damage. Personal protective
equipment must be stored in loose packaging, in a dry,
ventilated place, protected against sunlight, ultraviolet
rays, dust, sharp-edged objects, extreme temperatures and
aggressive substances.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Do not make any alterations or additions to the equipment
without the prior written consent of the manufacturer.
Equipment shall not be used outside its limitations, or for
other than its intended purpose.
Ensuring the compatibility of items of equipment when
assembled into a system. Ensuring that all items are suitable
for the proposed application. It is prohibited to use the
protection system where the operation of an individual item
is affected by or interferes with the function of another.
Periodically check connections and fittings of components
to prevent accidental disconnection. In the event of
deterioration or any doubt as to its condition for safe use,
personal protective equipment must be withdrawn from use
immediately. It must not be used again until a competent
person has confirmed in writing whether it is acceptable to
do so. In the event that a fall has stopped, the equipment
must be removed from use. It is essential for safety to check

the minimum clearance required below the user's feet in
the workplace before each use, so that in the event of a fall
there is no collision with the ground or other obstacle in the
path of the fall. Details of the required minimum clearance
can be found in the instructions for use of the respective fall
arrest system components.
If the product is resold outside the original country of
destination, the reseller must provide instructions for use,
maintenance, periodic inspection and repair in the language
of the country where the equipment is to be used.

Activities at heights are dangerous activities that can lead to

responsibility or taking this risk, do not use this equipment.
A rescue plan must be in place for any emergency that may
arise during the work. It is prohibited to make any altera-
tions or additions to the equipment without the prior writ-
ten consent of the manufacturer, and that any repairs should
only be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's
procedures. The equipment must be individually assigned to
a person. Personal protective equipment must only be used
by a person trained and competent in its safe use.
