To guide the dotting pen, use a wooden or plastic rule not
thinner than 2 mm (0.078 in.). Place the instrument on the
rule so that the runner wheel 1 rests on top of the rule,
points 2 and 3 touch the rule's side and point 3 rests on
the drawing paper. Now adjust the pen so that its points
just touch the paper. Hold the instrument on its upper part
and draw it along the rule in the direction of the arrow. ln
order to produce perfect dotting, press the instrument firmly
down onto the rule. If the instrument is drawn too rapidly,
the dotting may become irregular.
To change the dotting pattern, raise the spring 4 and
swing it out. Remove the runner wheel and exchange
the dotting wheel underneath. When replacing the runner
wheel, be sure that the small pin enters into the correspond-
ing hole of the dotting wheel. Finally, replace the spring on
the axle.
