Remove knob and cover.
Remove wing nut and air cleaner from base.
O SERVICE PRE°CLEANER
Slide foam pre-cleaner off cartridge.
Wash it in liquid detergent and water.
Squeeze it dry in a clean c!oth. Allow it to dry.
Saturate it Jn engine oil
Wrap Jt Jnclean, absorbent
cloth and squeeze to remove excess oil.
O SERVICE CARTRIDGE
Replace a dirty, bent, or damaged cartridge.
aOTE: Do not wash the paper cartridge or use pressurized
:ir, as this will damage the cartridge°
Reinstall the preocteaner (cleaned and oiled) over the
paper cartridge.
Reassemble air cleaner, wing nut, cover and tighten
knob securely.
CLEAN

AREAS
To insure proper cooling
make sure the grass screen,
cooling fins, and other external surfaces of the engine are
kept dean at att times.
Ever'y t 00 hours of operation (more often under extremely
dusty
dirty conditions),
remove the blower housing and
other cooIing shrouds_ Clean lhe cooling fins and external
sudaces as necessary. Make sure the cooling shrouds are
reinstafled.
NOTE: Operating the engine with a btocked grass screen_
dirty or plugged cooling fins and!or cooling shrouds re-
moved wil! cause engine damage due to overheating.
MUFFLER
Inspect a_sd,eptace c,_ roded muffler and spark attester (if
equipped) as it codd create a fire hazard and!or damage.
SPARK
PLUGS
Replace spark plugs at the be9innin 9 of each mowing
season or after every t00 hours of operation
whichever
occurs first. Spark plug type and gap setting are shown in
"PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS"
on page 3 of this manual..
