DESCRIPTION:
The DC/DC converter NE325 is suitable for recharging the auxiliary battery with the alternator.
The alternators of Euro 6 engines often provide a charge voltage that is too low and therefore a DC/DC
converter is required to charge the auxiliary battery with the vehicle running. In the case of lithium
batteries, which have very low internal resistance, the DC/DC is instead necessary to limit the charging
current of the alternator and therefore to protect the system from overheating or damage.
The DC / DC converter works only when the vehicle is running and this is achieved through the enable
input (Enable DC/DC) connected to the vehicle ignition and to the delayed switch on.
OPERATION:
POWER SUPPLY MODE:
The NE325 operates as a power supply if the output is not connected to the battery when it is turned
on. In this mode the green LED (MODE LED INDICATORS) flashes and the output voltage is fixed at
13.8V.
BATTERY CHARGER MODE:
The NE325 operates as a battery charger if the output is connected to the battery when it is turned on (if
the algorithm for lithium batteries has been selected, the DC/DC operates as a battery charger even if it
does not detect the battery when it is turned on).
Use the dip switches to choose the charging algorithm according to the type of battery. At switch on, the
green led flashes to indicate which algorithm is selected via dip switches (see next page).
The DC/DC uses a combination of Constant Current and Constant Voltage. This makes it possible to
significantly reduce charging time and prevents permanent damage to the batteries.
When a load is activated, the DC/DC immediately provides the necessary current, so that the battery does
not discharge (this is true if the load current is lower than the maximum current available from the battery
charger, otherwise the battery will discharge in any case with current equal to the difference I
It is possible to connect a temperature probe to the DC/DC (to be placed on the battery), to adapt the
charging algorithm selected at the temperature of the battery.
Visual signal of the charge (MODE LED INDICATORS):
- Red Led:
First phase of charge at constant current (25A or 40A depending on the model).
- Yellow Led: Second phase of charge at constant voltage (the voltage value depends on the
selected algorithm).
- Green Led: Battery charged, Maintenance phase (the voltage value depends on the selected
algorithm).
ALARMS:
The yellow led flashes when the DC/DC detects a fault:
- 2 flashing yellow LED: Short circuit of the output ( )
- 3 flashing yellow LED: Over-Voltage of the output ( )
- 4 flashing yellow LED: Over-Temperature DC/DC ( )
- 5 flashing yellow LED: Faulty DC/DC ( )
- 6 flashing yellow LED: Over-Temperature battery (t
- 7 flashing yellow LED: Faulty DC/DC ( )
- 8 flashing yellow LED: Over-Voltage or Under-Voltage of the input ( )

( ) The alarm is reset disconnecting the main supply. If it persists consult your service.
3
( ) The alarm will be reset itself when the charger cools. Verify the ventilation.
4
( ) The charge is momentarily interrupted and the alarm will be reset itself when the battery cools. Verify
the ventilation of the battery compartment or the battery status.
