3.0 Installation of the
switching power supply

Installation
WARNING!
Dometic AC/DC converters are perma-
nently installed and connected by the
vehicle manufacturer. It is not permitted
to connect cables to the unit or remove
them from it or to modify the installation
in any other way.
Install the switching power supply in a
place that is well ventilated and protected
against moisture. In order to achieve
optimum heat removal, the device should
be mounted vertically.
Comply with the stated clearances for the
installation.
The switching power supply can only be
operated with sinusoidal mains voltage
(230 V AC). If a generator provides this volt-
age, surge voltage protection must be
installed upstream of the power supply.
In the case of continuous overload due to
take-off of too high power or in the case of
exceeding the maximum ambient tempera-
ture, the unit automatically reduces its out-
put power so that the operating tempera-
ture of the power supply is not exceeded.

Vertical Installation

The optimum installation of the power supply
is in the vertical position (Fig. 1). The maxi-
mum permitted ambient temperature is 50 °C.

Horizontal Installation

Alternatively, the AC/DC converter can also be
installed horizontally (Fig. 3).
It must be ensured here that the ambient tem-
perature is max. 40 °C and the unit is operated
at max. 75% load. The installation must be
designed so that in the case of later use of the
installation space no objects can be placed on
the unit which hinder air circulation.
